Rabid Love – Classic horror gets its teeth back

One thing that can be said about the horror movies of the 80’s is that they scared the crap out of you right? Some still do to this day. Unlike today’s gore-fest style films, the horror movies of the 80’s focused on the tension more then the blood and it kept you on the edge of your seat to the point of wanting to scream even though nothing had happen on the screen. And right at that moment when you let your guard down, they scare you and you jump out of your seat.

Its sad that those days are all but gone. Or are they? Indie films offer us a way to get away from the Hollywood glamor that is given to the bloody gore movies of today and get into the real meat of film that we loved back when special effects were just a side item, not the main attraction. Our good friend Colin Cunningham has joined a team of dedicated Indie Filmmakers at Rogue Taurus to create a classic horror film set in the 80s but they need our help.

Unlike big budget films, Indie films require the dedication of fans to help raise money to support their cause and get these movies made. Many Indie films go on to inspire some of the blockbuster hits we see on our screen and inspire the very directors, writers, actors and producers we see behind the scenes on Hollywood today. How can you help? Visit IndieGoGo.com by clicking this link and donating to help get this production off the ground.

Now whats even cooler is that each different donation level gets you a chance to win cool perks and exclusives for the film and for all of your Pope (Cunningham) fans from Falling Skies, he has thrown in some exclusive stuff you will find really awesome:

Here’s what we’ve got. An extremely LIMITED EDITION ‘Falling Skies’ t-shirt. Made exclusively by the FS Art Deptartment-NOT available anywhere. A gift for cast and crew ONLY. It has a picture of the ‘Mona Lisa’ – an image used on the show as apocalyptic graffiti.

The BUTTON (pinned to shirt) says ‘Worst Camping Trip Ever’. Which was a euphemism for the show. Since the entire Second Mass is essentially moving from ‘camp to camp’ in an attempt to evade the aliens.

And finally- a photo signed by the entire cast- Noah Wyle, Moon Bloodgood, Will Patton, Drew Roy, Maxim Knight, Peter Shinkoda, Ryan Robbins, Mpho Koaho, Connor Jessup, Sarah Carter, Jessy Schram, and Colin Cunningham!

I will admit I want that prize for myself, who doesn’t? But seriously lets help these filmmakers out and lets see some real classic horror!

Here is a bit more about the production company behind Rabid Love.

Rogue Taurus Productions started producing quality, award-winning short films in 2008.  And now, less than four years later, we’re preparing to finally undertake the dream of every indie filmmaker- a feature film!  In December of 2011, we shot for two days to get material for a promotional trailer (see it in our media gallery) and now we’re bringing back the cast and crew to do it for real!  After assisting on numerous short films, commercials, music videos, and feature films, ‘Rabid Love’ will be the first full-length feature film completely produced by Rogue Taurus.  We’re putting all the pieces together and calling in all our favors to make it happen!  ‘Rabid Love’ builds on one of the most successful and time proven genres and takes inspiration from some of the most influential horror films of all time.

Here is a promotional trailer for the film and a small background synopsis of it.

Rabid Love is set in the early 1980’s; it pays homage to the wildly successful horror films of that era such as ‘An American Werewolf in London’, ‘The Howling’, ‘Grizzly’, ‘Friday the 13th’, ‘Evil Dead’, and countless others.  It builds on the tried and true plot of young people in the woods and includes all the critical elements that fans of the genre expect.

When Heather Ross and her lifelong friends take one final trip out to a cabin in the woods before they go their separate ways after graduating from college, the weekend takes an unexpected turn when people start disappearing.  Is one of their own responsible?  How about the killer bear that’s rumored to be in the woods?  Maybe one of the seemingly unstable hunters that have been drawn to the area and are out to get the bear?  Join Heather and the gang as they find out where their loyalties truly lie and discover the secrets of the forest that might become a grave for all of them!
