
Next summer we’ll once again be treated to a CGI action comedy. That may be nothing new these days and while this isn’t from the venerable Pixar, what little we’re shown in this first trailer is promising. There’s action and comedy, as one would expect, but something about the trailer just gives me hope that it’ll be a notch above other CGI animated fare.
The film looks as if it’ll appeal to movie-goers of all ages, which is a big plus. The character animation is right up there with today’s standards, and while very good it doesn’t really stand out. What really caught my eye while watching the trailer were several nature scenes that were very impressive. Water and atmospheric effects were especially good for an animated feature.

Epic is currently scheduled for release on May 17, 2013, but with so much time until the release this date could change.
