FX UK renews license to carry ‘Falling Skies’ Season 3

It comes as no surprise that FX UK has renewed its license agreement with Turner Entertainment (TNT) to carry season 3 of Falling Skies.  Falling Skies has been setting records worldwide. Falling Skies premiered in more than 115 global markets, achieving hit status in the United Kingdom, Australia and Latin America, among others. The premiere of Falling Skies also ranks as the biggest series launch ever for TNT networks in Spain, Germany and Austria.

TNT has ordered a third season of its epic original series Falling Skies, from DreamWorks Television and executive producer Steven Spielberg. The critically acclaimed drama starring Noah Wyle finished its first season last year as basic cable’s top new series of 2011. Currently averaging 5.9 million viewers, the series ranks asbasic cable’s #1 summer drama with adults 18-49. TNT has ordered 10 episodes Falling Skies‘ third season, slated to air in 2013.

Like many popular genre shows on TV right now, Falling Skies joined in on the ‘after show’ fun with their own version called 2nd Watch. 2nd Watch is a weekly online talk show hosted by Wil Wheaton (Star Trek: The Next GenerationLeverage). Each episode features discussions on the latest episode and interviews with special guests from the cast and crew, exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, fan questions, trivia and more.

Season 2 left many fans on the edge of their seat wanting to know just who these new aliens were and what their intentions are. The skitter resistance managed a successful mission against the overlords but the fight is far from over. Season 2 also saw some great guest stars including the return of Dale Dye as Porter, Matt Frewer as General Bressler and Terry O’Quinn as Arthur Manchester.

Season 3 promises even more great guests including Stephen Collins as the former president of the united states. Popular prosthetic actor Doug Jones also has a major role in season 3 as the new alien species that showed up at the end of season 2. Robert Sean Leonard has signed on for a five-episode arc in season 3. He will play the role of Roger Kadar, a PhD who is obsessive but gifted and runs the power grid in Charleston. The down side is he lives with rats. In fact the kids, who love his science toys, have given him the nickname ‘The Rat King’.

Another familiar face for Noah Wyle is Gloria Reuben, who previously started with Noah on ER. Reuben will play Marina Perlata, an aide to Tom, who has been one of the leaders from the human resistance movement. She is very smart and her political knowledge and experience could be very important for Tom.
