According to Deadline, Carol Barbee has been tapped to join Falling Skies under new show runner David Eick. She will be joining the team as a consulting producer. Barbee worked with Eick on Fox’s Touch and was executive producer and show runner for the scifi classic Jericho.

Announced last week was the departure of Remi Aubuchon as show runner and the signing of David Eick. Over the past 2 seasons of Falling Skies Remi Aubuchon has taken over the reigns and cranked up the action and mythology of the series. His efforts have kept Falling Skies #1 in its time slot in the summer. Remi tweeted that he will not be returning for a 4th season and his Battlestar Galactica friend David Eick will be taking over.

David Eick is an American producer and writer, best known as the executive producer of Battlestar Galactica, of which he also wrote several episodes with Ronald D. Moore, as well as the re-imagined version of Bionic Woman.

TNT’s Falling Skies has been its #1 rated scripted series in the summer and has high numbers in the younger and very important demos. The structure of Falling Skies as a series and the special effects requires them to get a writing staff and producer working on the next season long before any official renewal is announced. However it is widely agreed that any official announcement is simply a formality as Falling Skies continues to be TNT’s #1 rated summer series both in the US and around the world.

TNT’s marketing efforts for the series 3 premiere have also been increased over previous years. Currently Falling Skies ads have been seen in front of some of the biggest blockbuster movies of the year including Iron Man 3 and Star Trek Into Darkness. TNT has also made efforts to advertise heavily during the NBA playoffs (which aired on TNT) and across other TV networks including Syfy. At the TNT/TBS Upfronts earlier this month, they also announced they would start offering 24/7 LIVE streaming of their channels, a first national network to do so. Falling Skies will also be streamed.
