Falling Skies 4×03 Review – Exodus

Falling Skies

Tonight’s all new Falling Skies was about each side trying to leave the places they ended up stuck in after being ambushed at the start of the season. Of course things didn’t go as planned.

In Chinatown, Ben and Maggie confront Lexi about meeting with an Espheni overlord, only to get her wrist broken when Lexi reacts in a fit of anger. She really isn’t helping her case.

Back in Charleston, Tom and the others enact their plan to destroy the fence using the Faraday suit, but when Dingas hand is broken, Pope has to take over the task. However, after dropping the bomb (leave it to Pope), he must re-climb the wall a second time. The suit isn’t able to handle it and Pope is knocked out cold, leaving Tom and the others lives hanging in the balance. Pope manages to wake up and plant the bomb but it doesn’t destroy the cord right away. After beating at the exposed core, they manage to break the wall and Tom jumps from the building blowing it as he falls into the river.

Matt continues to try and undermine the camp but when his ‘girlfriend’ hides cutters that would allow her to escape the camp, Matt takes the blame for it and is taken off to be punished for breaking the rules.

Anne has a dream after collapsing that shows an overlord using what looks like an umbilical cord on Anne and the baby. The Baby had far more alien DNA then we first thought. But we got to see Karen again, as Anne was recounting what happen during the time she was a captive of Karens. Anne, Anthony and the others finally make it to Chinatown and meet up with Ben, Lourdes and Lexi.

Overall the episode has begun the merging of split character locations by getting the residents of Charleston free. That means Tom, Hal, Weaver, Pope and the others will be on their way to find Matt, Ben, Maggie and the others. Anne’s group is now together with Lexi and Ben in Chinatown. The action was good, and there was a lot more screen time for the aliens in all the battles. This is where Falling Skies shines for a basic cable TV show. The larger budget is evident in the episode and it makes for a more intense episode.

I am interested in what Weaver saw under the overpass. What was that?
