The newest teaser for Falling Skies final season promises that “this is the time for overkill”. Non-stop action is expected as the Espheni are backed into a corner and the war for Earth reaches is climax. The short 30 second teaser however brings up a lot more questions then it does answers. The teaser starts out with a female voice telling someone to exterminate them all out. Who is this new character? After listening to it multiple times and comparing to other audio of our main female cast members both current and former, its someone new. Is this the new evil face of the Espheni?
Tom has made it back to the ground, kind of a big spoiler considering where we left Tom at the end of season 4, but not unexpected. Like previous seasons where we have seen Tom’s journey home from captivity, I am sure we will find out how he got back to Earth. He is clearly pissed and they are not pulling any punches using any tech they can get their hands on to take down the enemy. We also see a moment of Weaver pinning someone to the wall. I can’t help but say that the “Weaver is on the edge of a mental breakdown” story is getting really old. He’s hot tempered, we get it, move on.
The really juicy parts of this trailer are these final 2 screen shots. The first shows Ben using his super-human strength to throw a solider into a row of lockers. We don’t yet know why he is doing that, whether he was being held against his will or if yet another group of human military are enemies like in previous seasons. It wouldn’t be a far stretch to think that a new group might not look too friendly upon Razorbacks like Ben and might consider them a security risk. Clearly Ben is having none of it. I would be happy to see more of this and less of Ben/Maggie/Hal love triangle though (spoiler), the word is there will be more of this.
The final capture is eery and hard to screen cap but we will explain it and you should re-watch it several times. The words “What is your legacy gonna be?” is followed by the image of a pair of hands, that appear to be covered in something or the skin on the persons hand have changed. We watch as bits of skin and flesh disintegrate from the hands and float up as the teaser ends. The voice speaking the words appears to be a young male voice that could possible be Matt Mason. We have never revisited the lasting effects of human/alien experimentation and hybrids will have on the children and what place they will have in a world after the war. This could be our answer and if it is, it doesn’t look good.
