Gotham’s Camren Bicondova at San Diego Comic Con:
Camren Bicondova is a newer face in the world of television, but is absolutely nailing the part of Young Selina Kyle. She has been quite vocal about how excited she is to be a part of Gotham and we had a chance to sit down and talk with her about her opinions of the season two, some of her interests, and what she likes about Conventions. She handles herself with such elegance for how young she is and was really delightful to talk to!
When asked about the pressures of going into season 2 Bicondova said she doesn’t feel as though there is much pressure. She says that the fans have been incredibly supportive and that she feels they don’t have to worry about that very much. She talked about how her friends were upset with her that she didn’t tell them that she had the role of Catwoman, but that was because she wasn’t allowed to tell them. She also says that they call her “Catwoman” all the time now. She says she likes being around the fans because she likes the fact that they are appreciating all of the hard work they have all put into the show. What she’s learned from doing the Conventions is that Gotham has a lot of support because she didn’t realize how much people actually really liked the show. She loves the conventions because of the costumes, the people, and the fans. She’s also a big fan of music noting that her favorite band is “Alabama Shakes”. She had a heart-warming experience recently at Detroit Comic-Con and Houston ComicPalooza and saw two little girls dressed up like Selina Kyle and said she felt good about that because Kyle is a strong female character who is wise beyond her years.
As Selina Kyle, Bicondova hasn’t gotten to do much fight training, but she has done a lot of parkour training and says that her background as a dancer has helped her be able to jump from building to building, which as we all know Selina Kyle is a master of! She is hoping to do some fight training because she wants to do some fight scenes soon. Hopefully we will see some fights, especially since Kyle decided to team up with Oswald Cobblepot this upcoming season. Bicondova also says that she and Robin Lord Taylor (Oswald Cobblepot) are always messing around and the fact that they’re both Geminis has lot to do with it. She also says that Donal Logue (Harvey Bullock) is the biggest practical joker and, though he takes the role very seriously, he’s always one to crack jokes!
This upcoming season of Gotham is going to be a great one, from the teasers we’ve been seeing to the cast’s reactions to what they’ve read, the events of this are going to be game changing. With the team up between Selina Kyle and Oswald Cobblepot, it seems as though they’re going to lean even more into her Catwoman transformation. Of course her relationship with Jim Gordon is going to become even more complicated, especially because of the Oswald factor. Whichever way it goes, I am really excited to see her take on this role and embrace Catwoman even more!
