iZombie Stronger Than Ever!

iZombie Stronger Than Ever!

*SPOILERS* The first three episodes of iZombie have been a trip; from Liv taking on the grumpy old racist personality, to the crazy frat bro, to now the house wife personality, the writers really went all out this season. The murders thus far, with the exception of this most recent episode, have all been sympathetic too. The first murderer accidentally killed the grumpy old man and let me say I actually teared up a bit when he was saying goodbye to his dog! This whole season has mainly focused on Major too, who’s major drug problem is really disheartening. (Sorry I had to pun!) Overall, however, I think I’m enjoying this season a lot, though not as much as last season yet. The small conflicts between Liv and Major really make me want to see them resolve everything, especially since it’s apparent how much they still care about each other, even with Major being angry at Liv.  I also like how much Babineaux is letting Liv do her thing this season. He never questions the way she changes her act every case and it makes me happy that he doesn’t think she’s some sort of loon! Her personalities are much louder this season; with every brain being a big stereotype it allows for much more comedic scenes which is something that this show does really well. The on screen chemistry between Rose McIver (Liv) and Rahul Kohli (Dr. Ravi) is another driving factor on this show. They are very much each other’s Batman and Robin and it’s fun to see her be able to be so comfortable around him. Ravi is her calm in the storm of chaos and the one person she knows she can trust and rely on.

“Real Dead Housewives of Seattle” is the third episode of this season and one that focuses a lot on the main antagonist “Max Rager” and their director Vaughn Du Clark. Clark is forcing Major’s hand in a crazy zombie purge. After being turned into a zombie at the end of last season and then being cured by the last bit of what Ravi had been working on, Major can sense when someone is a zombie. He’s now going around crossing names off of a list Clark gave him. It really honestly sucks, but Major is so confused and frustrated with everything going on it seems like a move he has to make to feel like he has a purpose in life. He’s also dealing with a Utopium addiction, which as I stated earlier is really disheartening! The addiction doesn’t really make much sense to who Major is as a character, but I guess that’s the beauty of it because really, even the most sane person could be dealing with an addiction! I really don’t like the idea of Major and Gilda together, I’m sure she’s just using him but it feels weird seeing him with someone else. I guess we’ll figure out whether or not she is using him soon!

Peyton’s return was a big surprise, after not seeing her for three months it’s a bit of a shocker that she just appears. I’m hoping that she’s going to take down not only Max Rager, but help out Major in the best way possible.  I loved the interaction between Ravi and Peyton too, they’re relationship was cute and I liked seeing them together again. The other thing I really loved was that she left a birthday cake for Liv. I really hope they can make up and join forces against Max Rager, because I really can’t stand that guy! Whoooo is also hiding a deep dark secret about zombies and that he’s keeping one locked away for his own personal gain! What that means, I have no idea, but I’m sure we’ll find out soon enough!  The ending was a bit of a twist, I didn’t see Liv’s “BFF” being the culprit but I liked how they handled that!

Overall, “Real Dead Housewives of Seattle” was a fun personality to watch.  I think going completely opposite of who Liv really is was a good touch and I liked seeing her portray that snooty type.  I’m looking forward to what happens with Major and I’m hoping he’s able to get pulled out of this rabbit hole he plummeted down, because otherwise I think things are going to get ugly.  I’m wondering what the Utopium is going to do to him since he used to be a zombie.  This could be the reason Major became addicted to it and could be the reason he’s still able to feel when zombies are present.  So far this season they haven’t really focused on making another cure, but I’m sure they’ll get to that soon.  As much as I’d like to see Liv cured, I don’t think she would like it.  She wouldn’t be able to help people as much, and not seeing visions may strain her and Babineaux’s relationship, but I guess we’ll cross that bridge when we get there!
