Wynonna Earp (badass) Premieres on SyFy April 1

Wynonna Earp? Who’s that?

Well! Wynonna is the next Zombie/Demon-slaying heroine that you’re about to become addicted to watching! She and her motley collection of friends (& enemies) from Beau Smith’s IDW comicbook will be gracing screens from the Syfy channel from April 1st 2016, 10pm/9c.

Those of you familiar with the Wyatt Earp legend(s) might think her name sounds familiar. That would be because Wyatt was her great-great grandpappy, and Wynonna is the heir to his almost magical gunslinging abilities. Actually, I need to remove the “almost”: Wynonna uses Wyatt’s magic demon-killing gun, “Peacemaker” to re-kill the 77 people who have risen from hell as demons in the township of Purgatory, where the Old West hasn’t quite left them behind. The lyric from the theme song is totally appropriate: “I told that devil to take you back!”

Here’s the Wynonna Earp Premiere Trailer, for a quick overview (0:30)

On her 27th birthday, Wynonna inherited Wyatt’s powers, (Can you see it happen in Episode 1? Watch for it!) as part of the curse on the Earp family since Wyatt’s time. Each heir must return to hell the demons killed by the previous heir. For the first time, Doc Holliday, Wyatt’s best friend, has also risen from the dead. But: who’s side is he really on?

Did I mention yet, that the cast are rather attractive, too! Wynonna Earp stars Melanie Scrofano (“Gangland”), Tim Rozon (“Being Human”), Shamier Anderson (“Defiance”) & Dominique Provost-Chalkley (“Avengers: Age of Ultron”).

Showrunner Emily Andras, creator Beau Smith, and the stars of the show fill us in: “What’s it all about” sneak peek video (2:35)

Considering that Wynonna was committed to a mental institution and medicated for being manic and paranoid, after telling people about the demons that took her sister and father, it’s no surprise that she’s not keen to mention that she’s seen them again. Lucky for her, Deputy Marshall Dolls from the ‘Black Badge Division’ headhunts her: not to send her back to prison (she did time in juvie) but to recruit her in battling the paranormal. It’s probably not a coincidence that Wynonna wears an “Athena” necklace: she sure could use the goddess of wisdom and military victory on her side!

And a sneak peek from the Syfy site: (2:14)

For all the very adult action, drama, horror and humour that is Wynonna Earp, tune in to Syfy on April 1, 10pm/9c.
