Peacemaker, Wynonna Earp’s ‘magic’ gun

I’ve been wondering about the history of Wynonna’s Gun, ‘Peacemaker’.

We know that it was Wyatt Earp’s original gun. Doc had it inscribed for Wyatt’s 50th kill. If a Revenant touches it, it burns them. If Peacemaker shoots a Revenant, hellfire comes to collect them and take them back. I think it only fires for Wynonna, the current Heir.

Here’s a ‘behind the scenes’ video to tell us more. (2:34)

Wynonna’s gun, Peacemaker, looks cool because it is. Get the story behind series’ iconic sidearm.
Wynonna Earp airs Fridays at 10/9c on Syfy.

They sure got the “personality of a stubborn horse” thing right! Peacemaker seems to have a mind of it’s own. (That shot to save Waverly! Shooting Ward. Not always firing.)

I think Wynonna and Peacemaker seem a bit like Doctor Who and the TARDIS: The TARDIS doesn’t always take The Doctor to where he wanted to go, but she always takes him to where he needs to be. Peacemaker doesn’t always do what Wynonna expects, but it always does what it needs to do. Let’s hope so, anyway!

I hope there will be more videos to tell us about how ‘Peacemaker’ was made, and what gives Peacemaker its power. Is it the runes in the barrel? And: what’s that symbol that lights up on the Revenants?

We’re only half-way through season 1, so there’s still plenty of time for such mysteries to be revealed!
