I hope you’re sitting down because I’m about to make you feel old. It’s been 23 years since “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure” first hit the screens (And 21 since “Bogus Journey”). That’s right, nearly a quarter century has passed since Wyld Stallyns was greeted by a time-traveling man in a phone booth (No, not that one!) and told they were destined to write the song that would save the world.
It was such a fun, strange ride that apparently these two slackers never got around to writing that song. They even got a sequel, but in true slacker form they still managed to avoid fulfilling their destiny. Granted, they kept us fairly entertained during their two outings, but letting the world end just won’t do. As the late, great George Carlin (Rufus) would say, “Where would we put all our stuff?”
Although for more than two decades it’s been looking as if Ted Theodore Logan and Bill S. Preston Esq. were content with letting us all take a big dirt nap, Digital Spy is reporting a script for the third entry is finished, so the not-so-dynamic duo may just be coming to our rescue after all. Apparently this third film will revolve around the boys writing the most important song in history thereby saving our collective backsides. Man, that better be one really good song!
Speaking to MTV, Reeves said: “When we last got together, part of it was that Bill and Ted were supposed to have written the song that saved the world, and it hasn’t happened.
“So they’ve now become kind of possessed by trying to do that. Then there’s an element of time and they have to go back.”
(I’d like to point out that at no time in this article did I use the word “excellent” which required a great deal of restraint and maturity on my part which are two things I’m not at all used to. I hope you can appreciate the effort. Thank you.)
