Fringe – “Walterisms”

By: Tom Gardiner March 19, 2012

“Fringe” has one of the most unique premises on television and definitely has plenty of memorable characters, most, if not all, with two versions.  While that alone would be more than enough to please fans, the icing on the “quirky cake” is hands-down John Noble’s ‘Walter Bishop.’  In each episode Walter manages to crank up the crazy eccentricities to eleven infinity.

All this is due in no small part to the acting talents of the great John Noble whose character, the tormented genius ‘Walter Bishop’ has become more or less the center/soul/mascot of “Fringe.”  The completely outrageous, random mutterings of this lovable mad scientist have been a great source of humor in the middle of some of the most gruesome situations ever seen on television.

I know you can probably think of a few off the top of your head, but don’t you wish there was a compilation of them all so you could quickly relive all of Walter’s wackiness?  Fortunately, the lucky attendees of WonderCon’s “Fringe” panel got to view a short video of the team’s favorite “Walterisms.”

Didn’t go to WonderCon?  No problem.  Watch this short, but sweetly insane, clip with some of the best of ‘Walter Bishop’ packed into just under 2 1/2 minutes.

Created by J.J. Abrams, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, FRINGE is produced by Bad Robot Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. Abrams, Bryan Burk, Jeff Pinkner, J.H. Wyman and Joe Chappelle serve as executive producers, while Kurtzman, Orci and Akiva Goldsman are consulting producers. Additionally, Pinkner and Wyman serve as the series’ showrunners.

Senior Editor for Three If By Space. Tom first became interested in science fiction & science as a very young child thanks to his parents. His earliest memories of enjoying scifi were sitting with his dad watching first-run episodes of the original Star Trek. Although a fan of nearly all forms of scripted television, Tom’s preferences skew heavily toward hard science fiction.
