Merlin – Episode 12 – The Sword In The Stone Part One
With a signal from Agravaine the assault on Camelot begins, interrupting a royal feast. They secretly approach and are let in by Agravaine into the palace. Through the castle and out in the city they begin killing guards and setting things on fire. While Morgana see’s from a distance this all in the works and calls for the rest to proceed to Camelot. The knights struggle to help with the fires when that is no longer their problem. The city gates have been breached and they are now under attack. Already inside the castle now is Morgana, whom has meet up with Agravaine. Arthur and the knights fight those that have gotten inside the castle, while those on the outside strive to keep the others out of Camelot, it is to late the lower city is lost, they must fall back. Inside the castle Arthur is injured and Merlin gets to him just in time to assist with some magic, they head for cover. An see that Agravaine has joined with Morgana. Those that can flee the city with the help of a few knights. Morgana has claimed Camelot, and now she wants Arthur.
Merlin has taken the injured Arthur to Gauis, but he is badly wounded. Merlin knows that Arthur will never leave the castle, so he uses his magic to convince Arthur to go with him, turning him into a simpleton. While the knights hold off the invaders has long as they can. Gauis and Gwaine stay behind, while Percival and Merlin leave with Arthur. Not soon after Morgana breaks in capturing all that are in there. Once outside of Camelot they run into Elyan that has also escaped. Though they must make haste, already they can hear a hunting party after them. Morgana spots them and with her magic throws them to the ground. Scattering to run they have lost Percival, Elyan now stays behind to hold the others off. Merlin and Arthur continue on with a very willing Arthur. Merlin’s spell has worked well, he is doing everything that Merlin wants him to. Morgana is pleased that she has now taken Camelot. Though the people only pledge their allegiance to Arthur, so she says to burn their crops. Morgana is confident that she will find Arthur soon. Morgana desperate to find out where Arthur is enchants a magical snake and implants it into Elyan to get the information from him. She is successful, and send Agravaine to retrieve Arthur, if he fails he takes Elyans place. He leaves at once to track Arthur down.
In the meantime, Merlin suggests that Arthur changes his clothing so he is not so easily recognized. Merlin and Arthur travel down the road, and come across a group of travelers. In which Merlin convinces to let them come along, gold doing the convincing of course. They travel away down the road when it is time to make camp. While helping unload the wagon is when Merlin discovers that they are smugglers. But of course they think of it as free trade. They are Tristan and Isolde who are to smart for the half wit king in Camelot, so they say. That night Merlin discusses with Arthur how it is nice to hear him having some manners, when he is normally so rude. Merlin though quickly puts the simpleton Arthur to work cleaning the dishes and tending the horses. Upon morning, Arthur is back to his normal rude self. Merlin explains to him what had happened and where they are and whom they are with and what is now going on. Though Arthur is not happy with being considered a simpleton. He has such a hard time pretending to be such. Suddenly they are under attack, Agravaine and his men have caught up to them. A battle ensues, Arthur and Merlin help Tristan and Isolde to escape. Hiding in the woods Arthur reveals whom he is, Tristan is not happy the two of them start arguing, but soon a group of men are on them. During the fight Isolde is injured and Arthur saves her from being finished off. Tristan and Isolde agree to go with them as they try to get to Eldor. On the way to Eldor they stop for the night, Arthur can’t believe how he was fooled by Agravaine. Merlin reassures him that one day he will be the greatest king this land has ever seen, and he is not alone in believing this.
In the dungeons Morgana talks to Gwaine, Elyan and Gauis. She wants Gwaine to sing for their food in front of her court. An by singing Morgana means a fight to the death with one of her rather large warriors. Gwaine fights and wins dinner for them, Morgana watches in glee at all this. But if he wants more he is going to have to do better.
Merlin and those with him have now made their way to the village where his mother lives on the boarder. Isolde is now mending and doing better, she just needs some rest now. Arthur apologizes for the misfortune that he has brought on them. Tristan says he may have lost his cargo but he still has his beloved Isolde, Arthur replies then he is luckier then he knows. That night, Merlin talks with his mother, whom of course has missed him. There also he finds Gwen whom has been staying with his mother. Gwen comes in and see’s Arthur, he is stunned to see her there. Gwen explains that she has missed him, and Arthur admits he has missed her, they embrace. Soon screams are heard in the village, Agravaine has found them, they are surrounded. Merlin advises them to head out the back, while he uses his magic to distract them. They are off into the woods, Arthur, Gwen, Merlin, Tristan, and Isolde. Agravaine spots them and calls for all to go after them.
Oh cliffhangers till next episode, still can’t decide if I like those or hate them. I can’t wait for the next episode, going to be so exciting!
