CW Pilot – The Selection
The CW is bring us yet another great pilot, this one is a drama ‘The Selection’. This soon to be show is based on the book series by Kiera Cass. The TV show was written by Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain, directed by Mark Piznarski. It is set 300 years in the future, with a war-torn nation at its crossroads. This show will focus on America Singer (played by Aimee Teegarden). She is a poor young woman chosen via lottery to participate in a contest to marry Prince Maxon (played by Ethan Peck), becoming the next queen. The catch is America is have an illegal relationship with another man, its not allowed to date someone outside your own caste system, which she is. This handsome, brave young man is Aspen Leger (played by William Moseley). He is without regal bearing, a poorly dressed servant trying desperately to provide for his whole family. When Aspen learns America has been chosen in the Selection, he removes himself from their relationship, by enlisting in the royal army. He wants her to have a real shot at bettering herself and her families cast standing. Also cast as a guest star is Andrew Elvis Miller, a TV personality Gavril who is hosting the Selection that is nationally broadcast. This new pilot is being compared to The Hunger Games, there are defiantly many aspects that make it unique and few similar. The Selection is certainly a different kind of competition, one full of jewels, fancy gowns, and a love triangle. So watch out William Moseley fans, if you loved him in Chronicles of Narnia you wont want to miss him in this!
