New Series, Primeval: New World
Primeval: New World, is a North American based spin off of the British series. Primeval the original series is in its fifth season. This spin off has been described as a “parallel” but independent series. Though story and character development is said to move between the two series, bringing together certain plot lines. It is also being pitched as a darker, gritter take, with a younger cast and mature storylines. This spin off is being co-produced by Canadian studio Omni Film Productions and original series studio Impossible Pictures. Executive producers are Martin Wood (Stargate director, Sanctuary exec producer), Gillian Horvath (Sanctuary producer), and Tim Haines (original series co-creator), along with several others. As for spin off series directors, there are many familiar names listed to be directing the series inaugural season. Among them are Amanda Tapping, Andy Mikita and Mike Rohl. Casting for the series that has been announced so far is as follows: main male lead actor is Niall Matter (Eureka’s Zane Donovan), Sara Canning (the Vampire Diaries), Miranda Frigon (Sanctuary, Heartland), Geoff Gustafson (Supernatural), and more. In addition, British actor Andrew-Lee Potts will reprise his role of Connor Temple from the original Primeval series, in a guest star capacity. While the series is being filmed and produced in Vancouver it is likely we will see many familiar faces of Stargate and Sanctuary alumni with the 13 episodes of its first season. The series has recently began production and will air on the Canadian channel Space at a later time. As of right now the series has not announced to broadcast on any American television channels. Updates to follow on the new series as information is made available.
