5 Lannister men for everyone 1 of theirs. Not bad for someone who just recently had never fought a battle in his life. Robb Stark is proving to be a real thorn in the side of King Joffrey and the rest of the Lannister army. Even in his victory Robb will not torture the prisoners as he doesnt want to give the king any reason to harm his sisters.
In kings landing Joffrey humiliates Sansa and threatens to kill her for her brother Robb’s treason. Joffrey keeps a crossbow pointed at her as he orders his gold cloak to strike her (but not in the face). Then he orders her clothing striped off. Just before that can happen the hand of the king, Tyrion comes in demanding to know what is going on. Tyrion gives Joffrey a scolding in front of the knights and tells him to respect her honor. Tyrion then helps Sansa up and takes her away apologizing for Joffrey. Tyrion privately asks her if she wants to end the engagement with Joffrey to which she tones her standard response without any real conviction, confirming Tyrions worry that she is too afraid to say otherwise.
In a somewhat creepy turn, Bronn suggests what Joffrey needs is to get laid to “get some of the poison out” though i dont think that’s going to work out so well. 2 hookers await Joffrey in his chambers, sent by Tyrion and Joffrey decides to take this chance to get back at Tyrion for the earlier embarrassment in front of his knights. He orders Ros to beat the other first with a belt, and then a wooden scepter to show Tyrion. He really needs to die already.
Petyr Baelish shows up at Renlys camp, at the suggestion of Tyrion to offer an arrangement with Catelyn Stark. Renly is no fan and though Petyr tried to get information about Renly from his wife, that effort failed him. Petyr visits Catelyn and tries to profess his love to her but she meets him with a knife knowing that he betrayed her husband. He offers to trade her daughters for the king slayer. An arrangement she knows Robb will say no to. Petyr does leave her one token of Tyrions trust, Neds body.
At Harrenhal, Arya and the others watch as a guard comes to select another person to torture. Arya and Gendry watch as the man is questioned about ‘the brotherhood’ and even after giving up 2 names, they continue until he is dead. Each night Arya says a prayer listing the names of those she plans on killing.
In the stormlands Renly and Stannis meet along with Melisandre. Stannis attempts to remind Catelyn that her husband knew that he is the rightfully king. Stannis tells his brother that he has one night to decide and if Renly agrees to support Stannis he will be heir to the kingdom until Stannis has a son of his own.
Daenerys and the khalasar make it to the walls of Qarth, a place that is known for its desert. It is said when they close their doors to strangers, the ‘garden of bones’ grows. They are met with troops and members of the thirteen, who appear to govern this land. They want to see the dragons but she refuses to show them and they decide not to let them in. She threatens to burn their city to the ground with her dragons. But one of the thirteen Xaro vouches for them and under the law they must now let them in.
Back in Harrenhal Gendry is the next to be tortured but just as they are about to kill him, Tywin Lannister rides into camp, a day early. Arya notices that Needle is in Polliver’s belt. Tywin isn’t pleased with the use of the soldiers, and thinks they would be made better use of as a labor force. He looks at Arya and knows she is a girl, though the troops say otherwise. She admits to Tywin she is a girl and he asks why she pretended otherwise. She says its a safer way to travel amount this group. He mentions that she is much smatter then the troops and wants her as his cup barrier. Does he know who she is?
Tyrion is presented with a warrant from the queen for the release of Grand Master Pycelle by his cousin Lancel. Tyrion corners him and tells him he knows that he has slept with the queen and asks what would happen if Joffrey found out? The squire pleads with Tyrion and instead Tyrion says I won’t say a word, but you must stay close to the queen and report back to me.
Stannis asks Davos to revert to his smugglers ways and bring Melisandre to the shore. This was an obvious ploy to hide the fact that she was bearing Stannis’s child. She begins to give birth, or so it appears and a very creepy, black creature appears and takes shape in front of her, as a full sized adult. What are we looking at?
