Falling Skies Season 2 Episode Descriptions

With season 2 just around the corner, TNT released the episode synopses for the season. Now this is where the spoiler warning message comes up. While this is public knowledge and doesn’t spoil anything, some feel the episode descriptions reveal too much, so don’t read any further if you don’t want to know.

Going once. Going twice. Spoiler warning over.

We have personally seen the first 4 episodes of the series and as mentioned before you will be wowed by the superb FX and story that is being told in season 2. The first episode synopses we will look at is the 2 hour season opener which includes World’s Apart and Shall We Gather At The River.

Season Premiere Part 1: “World’s Apart” – Sunday, June 17, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT)

The season two premiere begins three months after Tom Mason agreed to go with the alien invaders. Weaver is still in command of the 2nd Mass, while Anne continues to serve as medic. They have seen many battles and are a much leaner unit now. Pope has taken command of the Berserkers, a renegade group within the 2nd Mass that Weaver doesn’t fully trust. When Tom suddenly returns, he is faced with doubt about his loyalties to the group. Meanwhile, Hal and Ben continue to drift apart as Ben challenges his older brother’s authority.

Season Premiere Part 2: “Shall We Gather at the River” – Sunday, June 17, at 10 p.m. (ET/PT)

Tom is still haunted by memories of his time with the aliens and begins to wonder if they did something to his mind. Pope, who is in charge of questioning Tom, plants seeds of doubt about him among the group. Meanwhile, Ben’s hatred for skitters grows, and the 2nd Mass scouts locate an old bridge that will help them cross the river to safety ahead of an impending attack.

I think it was safe to assume we all know Tom was coming back at some point. In a recent interview with Noah Wyle, he described the ending of season 1 saying “we wrote ourselves into a very difficult corner”. We can tell you that the writers, including Mark Verheidan who returns from season 1, do an excellent job of getting the story out of that corner and giving you a believable and edge of your seat story that leads Tom back to the 2nd mass.

We all saw the 3 min preview of the first episode and we all know Ben is growing stronger. What we don’t know yet is at what cost? Pope may not trust Tom, but nobody trusts Ben. During our recent interview with Drew Roy (Hal Mason) he described that while most of the 2nd mass won’t trust Ben, he does everything he can to protect Ben and be there for him.

“Compass” – Sunday,  at 9 p.m. (ET/PT) – Sunday, June 24, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT)

The 2nd Mass moves into an airport hanger, but the drafty conditions cause Anne to grow concerned about the group’s health. Meanwhile, the Berserkers hatch a plan to get rid of Tom. And while dealing with a loss of one of its own, the 2nd Mass receives a promise of hope from a mysterious visitor.

Coming out of the Battle of Fitchburg, the 2nd mass lost many of its fighters. Pope continues to distrust Tom and the group have a hard time dealing with the loss of another fighter.

While on patrol together, Ben and Hal try to help a young boy and wind up having their bikes stolen. The hunt to recover them leads them to the discovery of something much bigger. Also, Matt is put in danger, and Weaver is reunited with a family member.

Young bloods is the final episode we got to preview and a few things are revealed that were hinted in season 1 and new things you never expected. Things that will make you jump out of your seat for more.

“Love and Other Acts of Courage” – Sunday, July 8, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT)

A familiar face returns to the 2nd Mass, but his intentions remain unknown. Meanwhile, a skitter is captured and brought back to the camp as a prisoner. And Hal bonds with Maggie as she begins to open up about her past.

From here on out, we have not seen any of these episodes, so everything else we mention is speculation and wonder just like all our viewers. We can see this ‘familiar face’ who returns is a he, but who? I have an idea based on what I have seen and will keep that to myself. Another skitter captured, what might they expect to learn that they don’t already know? Or will capturing it reveal something someone has been hiding from the rest of the group?

“Homecoming” – Sunday, July 15, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT)

Hal stumbles across bodies of de-harnessed kids and finds someone from his past. Tom and Anne grow closer. And Weaver’s health deteriorates just as Tom discovers he may have been keeping important matters from the group in order to protect them.

A rather disturbing start, finding bodies of de-harnessed kids, but the question it raises is actually quite complex. Are these children dead because their group turned on them like the 2nd mass is turning on Ben or are the skitters killing off kids by ripping off the harnesses because they are not taking as well as Ben has? We have seen the aliens willing to kill in order to get their point across and one could assume they are looking for only the best specimens for their goal.

“Molon Labe” – Sunday, July 22, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT)

Ben is placed in harm’s way by someone who he thought he could trust. Tom captures another hostage. Weaver offers Matt a job to lift his spirits and make him feel useful. And when members of the 2nd Mass are trapped in the basement of a building, the situation takes a turn for the worst when they find themselves faced with a new enemy.

Molon labe is ancient Greek for “come and take them”. If we take that into context its a defiant tone but who is it placed at? Someone betrays Ben, which was bound to happen but it was someone Ben trusted. I don’t know many people Ben has trusted throughout season 1, so if this person was that close to Ben, its going to be a heartbreaking betrayal. So who is this new enemy when the 2nd mass is trapped and is it related to who betrays Ben?

“Death March” – Sunday, August 5, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT)

The 2nd Mass pushes on to Charleston, but some are still grieving the group’s recent losses. Weaver learns more about Tector’s background before the invasion. And Matt begins to bond with a harnessed girl who was found recently.

Directed by Seith Mann

Death march doesn’t sound very promising for our resistance fighters. Most loss is expected, but it was serious enough to mention and one has to wonder who they lost. Matt bonding with a harnessed girl is odd. Is she still harnessed and a prisoner or is she harness free?

“The Price of Greatness” – Sunday, August 12, at 9 p.m. (ET/PT)

The 2nd Mass meets new faces, while Tom comes across his former mentor and professor Arthur Manchester (guest star Terry O’Quinn). But it’s difficult to know whom to trust. Maggie begins to realize that Pope may not be sticking with the group very long. And Tector embraces his military past.

Another person from Toms past, but now does Tom trust him? Or will Tom continue his distrust which has been the one thing that has kept him, mostly, out of trouble? Pope wants to leave? I think he likes being a thorn in Toms side too much to leave. The title of this episode also suggests that someones greatness or helpfulness has a price and I am left to wonder if this doesn’t refer to Bens increased agility and fighting skills. At what cost?

Season Finale: “A More Perfect Union” – Sunday, August 19, at 10 p.m. (ET/PT)

When skitters approach the newly combined resistance force, the groups’ interaction surprises everyone. Meanwhile, Tom finds out life-changing news just as the 2nd Mass comes face-to-face with their most dangerous threat to date. Terry O’Quinn guest-stars.

Directed by Greg Beeman

As the title suggests Tom and Annes relationship seems to be coming to fruition here towards the end of the season. What life changing news does Tom find out? What will happen to Ben? When will we know season 3 is a go? We will just have to wait.

Remember to stay tuned here for all your Falling Skies coverage and remember to tune in Sunday June 17th at 9pm on TNT for season 2 of Falling Skies.
