This year’s Free Comic Book Day was an epic blast out here on the west coast. Time well spent at local shops from Hollywood to Pasadena with great friends and creators and it all started off bright and early at Golden Apple Comics on Melrose.
The line went all the way around the block as my friend Amelia and I waited in line merrily waiting for cast of The Guild and Andrew Chambliss to arrive. The Dark Horse creators were well worth the wait and Amelia was as delighted as I to finally meet all of them in person.
This year’s Buffy comic was a must grab for myself even though Dark Horse had already sent me a review copy. If you haven’t read it already Dark Horse has kindly made all of their FCBD titles available for download here.
Buffy and Spike’s adventures into space with the bugs is a brilliant and hilarious journey that Georges Jeanty illustrates beautifully. Amelia and I actually had a very fun discussion in line about the fashion of Buffy and how much we enjoy it in Jeanty’s hands. Even this light short issue did not disappoint. Thank you Dark Horse for putting out such a delightful free comic in support of our local stores, and thank you Brian for letting us have free reign over any FCBD titles we wanted. Without you some of my later reviews on this day would not be possible. See you guys next year! – N
