Before seeing the trailer for Jack the Giant Slayer I thought this was going to be a straight-up fantasy adventure, and while that’s not entirely untrue, the film looks like it may keep its tongue planted in firmly in cheek as well. It definitely gives off a vibe that makes me think a little of The Princess Bride. Before you get out the pitchforks and torches and begin hunting me down, I’m not comparing it to that classic film, only saying it might carry a little of its spirit within.
But don’t listen to me, I have absolutely no idea what I’m talking about most of the time and according to my wife I’m usually wrong. Take matters into your own hands, like Jack, by watching the trailer and judging for yourself. No, no, no, I’m not saying Jack watches movie trailers, I’m not even sure they have cinemas where he lives. What I meant is he’s the kind of go-getter that, well, goes and gets things.
Look…just watch the trailer, okay? Oh, and be sure to check out Jack the Giant Slayer in theaters March 1, 2013.
An ancient war is reignited when a young farmhand unwittingly opens a gateway between our world and a fearsome race of giants.
Unleashed on the Earth for the first time in centuries, the giants strive to reclaim the land they once lost, forcing the young man, Jack (Nicholas Hoult), into the battle of his life to stop them. Fighting for a kingdom and its people, and the love of a brave princess, he comes face to face with the unstoppable warriors he thought only existed in legend… and gets the chance to become a legend himself.
