It seems like we’ve been waiting forever for this and we’ll have to wait until May 17, 2013 for the movie itself, but there’s finally a trailer out for the next Star Trek film. Not much is known about Star Trek: Into Darkness except that Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) is the big bad, but how can you go wrong with Sherlock and Star Trek? I’ll definitely be one of the first in line to see this, so grab your barrel of popcorn, tankard of soda, and carton of candy and let’s all enjoy this long-awaited film together!
If that’s not enough trailer for you there’s also a Japanese teaser that has a whole twelve seconds extra footage. It doesn’t sound like a lot, but there’s a little nod to Wrath of Khan in it. Is that a hint, a bit of misdirection, or just coincidence? I’m thinking it’s just an intentional nod to the original films for the sake of the fans, but again, we won’t know for certain until the film is released. Watch it, but don’t blink or you might miss it.
What do you think about that quick scene? Is it boldly going where a previous Star Trek film has already gone or is it a shout-out to loyal fans? I’m thinking the latter, but tell me what you think in the comments below. I read ’em all…I promise!
Keep checking back here at Three If By Space for updates on Star Trek: Into Darkness. We’ll share them as soon as we get them because believe me, we’re just as anxious for this as you are. Maybe even more…and I love digging up news and trailers about all things sci-fi, especially Star Trek goodness.
