We’ve got about two weeks until The Walking Dead returns from its mid-season break. Judging by the way Made To Suffer ended a lot of crap’s going to be hitting some really big fans (the wind-making machines, not people who love the show) when season 3 returns with episode 309, The Suicide King.
Don’t believe me? Just watch this plethora o’ promos and see for yourself. And keep reading all the way to the bottom for a great little app that AMC has called Dead Yourself. You can take a picture of yourself (or your friend, sibling, pet…) and zombify it.
WARNING: These videos are filled with DREADED SPOILERS, so consider yourselves forewarned! If you don’t like spoilers, turn away now. Here there be spoilers! Spoilers inside, do not open. Don’t hunt me down and say, “My name is Inigo Montoya. You spoiled my show. Prepare to die.” Okay, I think I’ve beaten that dead horse to a sufficient pulp.
Let’s start off with the latest trailer, Fight to the Death. This promo was just posted to AMC’s YouTube channel on January 25th so it’s fresher than your average walker. The video may be only 30 seconds long, but it’s good!
This next trailer, Lead Me Home, has been around for a while, but AMC only posted it to their official YouTube channel on January 24th. The title of the video is also the name of the song playing in the background. It’s the soulful “Lead Me Home” by Jamie N. Commons and it really sets the mood nicely.
Here’s a sneak peek at episode 309, The Suicide King. It looks like this episode will pick up precisely where Made To Suffer left off. What’s going to happen to Daryl and Merle? Will either survive? Why don’t I shut up and let you watch the video?
This is a longer video in which members of the cast discuss how their characters have been affected by the events of the first half of season three. They also talk about what we might expect in the second half.
If you’re interested in how the assault scenes from Made To Suffer were created, then check out this behind-the-scenes video. It’s a fascinating look at how fake gunfights can be made to look so real yet be quite safe for those involved. It sounds like Andrew Lincoln is really enjoying his time playing with guns.
If you’re like me you should probably seek professional help, but on top of that you’ve probably wanted to know what you’d look like as a walker from The Walking Dead. AMC feels your longing to be a rotting cannibal and has provided the nifty Dead Yourself App. You can use it with a browser or download the app for your iPhone, then easily post the gruesome results to Facebook or download the file for any nefarious purpose you have in mind.
Once you upload a photo of yourself, you’re given the chance to pick out a set of gruesome eyes, or eye in some cases, a mouth, or lack thereof, various accessories (for the fashion-conscious gut muncher), and finally a filter to give the finished product a little ambiance. I’ve made several and you can see a before-and-after comparison picture here. Can you tell which is the before? Yeah, neither could my wife and kids.
So what are you waiting for? Go turn yourself into a gruesome zombie with the Dead Yourself App now! And don’t forget to tune in for the return of The Walking Dead on Sunday, February 10 at 9/8C on AMC.
