Each week we find a new angle the Liber8 group takes to secure the future free of the corporate congress. This week, we learn about the politics. If real life has tough us anything, its that politics has found its way into every single bit of our life and into every area of commerce on the planet. Someone with enough political influence can very easily shape future events with a few simple donations or partnerships. Carlos finds himself in the center of an investigation that finds a young female reporter dead.

At first, everyone assumes the death is nothing more than a lovers quarrel. As Kiera digs deeper she finds out that Carlos was sleeping with the reporter and failed to tell anyone which destroys her trust in him but she still has a gut feeling he didn’t do it. Kiera now has to race against time to figure out who murdered the reporter before someone at the station finds out it was Carlos who drove her home that night. Tonights episode revealed many of the tech that Kiera had at her disposal as a CPS officer and shined a light on what things were like in the future. Alec has made some progress with her suit but in order for them to truly find out what happen, Alec must go one step further.

Kellogg has acquired the access codes to the worldwide spy network but needs Kieras help to use them. He wants a protective net setup so that he will know when Liber8 makes a move to come after him. Kiera is reluctant at first but ends up agreeing as Alec has come up with a way to use the network to recreate the events that occurred in the apartment. Using radio waves, they mapped out the interruptions in that wave caused by human bodies and reenacted the events that took place. The killer was a nimble, quick and athletic female.

They come to find out an aid of Carlos’s political friend was to blame, having taken a 10 million dollar secret donation to his funds, this group took it upon them selves to kill the report and attempt to kill Carlos in order to keep his friend on track to win the election. Carlos may have been cleared but we find out the people pulling the strings in the election and the ones trying to have Carlos framed was of course Liber8. With control of a political figure that controls the largest union in the city and all the ports, liber8 now has the means to move in and out without notice.

I like the fact that we got to explore a lot more of the tech this episode. I also like the fact that we go back to the future to explore real life parallels with 2012 that Kiera is experiencing.
