CBS is bringing us some additional summertime relief from repeats and reality shows. The cable networks have known for years that viewers are hungry for original, scripted programming during the summer months and now the Eye is catching on. Best of all, CBS is giving us quality genre fare and not a procedural.
There is hope.
Premiering on Monday, June 24 at 10/9C on CBS and running for 13 episodes, Under the Dome will have an altered ending from the Stephen King book upon which it’s based. But don’t worry about some hackneyed conclusion that ignores the author’s intentions. No, the modified ending was given King’s approval and leaves the series open to return for another season or more.
UNDER THE DOME, which premieres Monday, June 24 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on CBS, is based on Stephen King’s bestselling novel about a small town that is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by a massive transparent dome.
UNDER THE DOME stars Mike Vogel, Rachelle Lefevre, Dean Norris, Natalie Martinez, Britt Robertson, Alexander Koch, Colin Ford, Nicholas Strong, Jolene Purdy and Aisha Hinds.
UNDER THE DOME is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television. Neal Baer, Stephen King, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank, Stacey Snider, Jack Bender and Brian K. Vaughan, who wrote the television adaptation, will serve as executive producers.

It looks really good and a genre show from CBS gives hope that maybe the network will pursue more projects like it if Under the Dome finds success.
Here’s a first look video with a behind-the scenes look at the show including commentary from the actors and Stephen King himself.
