Divergent is another film series based on a book that many feel could become the next big franchise, but the teaser released today does little to interest people in the new film unless you have already read the books. The story plot is not all that complex or unique. A series from the UK which aired in the 70s and 80s called The Tomorrow People has a similar story plot, albeit different names for those who are ‘different’. The CW has rebooted the series which is set to air this fall. I wonder how well this will do in comparison to some of the other big blockbusters coming out between now and March. A longer first look will air before the MTV Video Music Awards this Sunday at 8pm.
DIVERGENT is a thrilling action-adventure film set in a future where people are divided into distinct factions based on their personalities. Tris Prior (Woodley) is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. When she discovers a conspiracy to destroy all Divergents, she must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it’s too late. Based on the best-selling book series by Veronica Roth.
