Revolution S1x09: “Everyone Says I Love You” – Aaron May Never Recover

Tonight’s episode, which NBC is calling the “fall finale,” gives some answers to Aaron’s deadly nanotech powers. Can Aaron ever catch a break? He certainly doesn’t in this hour, and it’s likely that tonight’s events  will finally send him over the edge – he’s been teetering for weeks.

Big Hole in the Wall? Sure, That’s Normal

Revolution - Season 2

At the end of last week’s episode, Aaron is being held by Horn to try and find out his secrets. This week, Rachel, Miles and Charlie attempt to rescue Aaron and Cynthia. As they turn the corner, they see many Patriot soldiers laying unconscious on the ground, and in the building, all the soldiers they encounter are out. Charlie sees Aaron’s boot prints on the ground. Miles says, ”So, Aaron knocks out 40 guys, gets up, and just strolls out of here. Seriously. What’s going on?” He sees a big hole in the wall. “That’s not ominous at all.” The guards start to wake up, and our group gets out of the building.

A soldier tells Horn, “Best we can tell, Pittman just walked out. Through the tunnels.” Horn replies, unbelieving, “The amazing Aaron Pittman. What other surprises are up with that one?” Rachel, Charlie and Miles are outside the town walls, looking for Aaron. It’s misty and creepy. “Does this weather seem a bit… unseasonal to you?” Miles asks.  “Aaron Houdinis himself out the bunker, now this – more of your nanogarbage, isn’t it?” he asks Rachel. Rachel says she has to go back to get Porter, Miles tells her they have to find Aaron first – “All this X Files garbage, not my thing. Totally out of my depth here. I need your help.” He says that if Porter’s already dead, he did it to save them so they can save Aaron. They see a large group of soldiers, with Horn in a wagon, out looking for Aaron.

Aaron wakes up on the floor of the destroyed school. Cynthia is out on the floor near him. Her stab wound is healed. “Did I do that?” There’s a young boy in the room with them. “What are you doing here?” the boy asks Aaron.  Aaron replies, “I’m having a heart attack. What are you doing here?” “I live here.” He says that Aaron walked in carrying Cynthia, but he doesn’t remember. The boy says he’s been looking for his parents, and he’s from Oklahoma.

Monroe, Rachel, Charlie and Miles see soldiers in the mist. Charlie throws a knife, and kills one, Miles kills others, but they’re captured. Monroe comes up and kills the rest of the soldiers, and with tonight’s best line, tells them “I’m Batman.”

Neville and Jason are with Allenford. He doesn’t want to bring Jason – “he’s an escapee from a re-education camp.” Neville says he helped Allenford with his problem, now Allenford can help with his. “Smile, boy,we’re going to the White House,” Neville tells Jason. On the train to DC, Neville sees his wife (Kim Raver), who he thought died in the Atlanta nuclear bomb, outside,on the platform kissing a passenger.

Horn’s Running Out of  Time

Revolution - Season 2

Horn is still out in field. He sees dead soldiers around him, and starts to hear voices.

Miles and Monroe talk. Monroe wants Miles to tell him where his son is, and then he’ll leave. Miles shows  Monroe the blood infection in his arm. “I need to find Aaron.“ “Aaron, he’s nice and all, but he’s not worth dying for,” Monroe says. Miles tells Monroe that if he doesn’t help, he will never help him find his son. Monroe, who has started to get all the best sarcastic lines since his (partial) redemption, says, “Well, what are we waiting for, let’s go find Sta-Puft.”

Flashback to 6 years before the blackout. Miles is in an army uniform with Rachel at the bus station. “That’s it? No goodbye?” she says. Miles says they can’t keep up their relationship because of Ben, who is better for Rachel. “All you have to do is tell me you love me, and I will leave him, and I will wait for you,” she tells him. Miles says, “I don’t love you.”

Neville Gets A Surprise

Neville’s wife sees him on the train. He walks past her. She leaves the table and follows him into a luggage room, where they kiss. He asks her what happened, and she says she headed south, found a house, and was there when the bombs fell. “Who is this ass clown you’re with?” “He’s my husband. I thought you were dead. So marry him is what I had to do to survive.” Neville tells her that he was on his way to the White House to kill the president in revenge for her. She says for now, he’s going to keep his job, and both of them will keep their mouths shut. “We can get everything we wanted.”

Revolution - Season 2

In the field, the Patriots are gone. “They must have found Aaron,” Charlie says. At the school, Cynthia sits up and asks Aaron who he’s talking to, because there’s nobody there. The boy tells Aaron, “We fixed her, we brought her back to life. We just want to talk.” Aaron almost runs out, and Cynthia follows. He tells Cynthia what he saw, but she says he should go back and talk to him. “Everything happens for a reason, and you need to face it.” “I don’t think I can,” Aaron says.  “You are going to go back in there, and I am going to be right beside you,” Cynthia reassures him.

Remember the Lightning? A Clue

Aaron recognizes the boy as Kevin Donagan, his friend from 3rd grade. The boy says they’re everywhere – in the air, in his head, in his “thinks.” Aaron guesses that he’s the embodiment of the nanotech, that Aaron woke them up trying to turn the power back on. Flashback to the Tower,. “You made us,” the boy tells him. “Why did you bring me back to life? Why did you knock us out, and sleepwalk us all the way over here?” (Note that this refers to a scene that was in the original version of the second episode, where we see Monroe, Rachel, Charlie, Miles and Grace waking up outside the Tower. This scene was not in the broadcast version of the episode.) “You made us. We just want to help you, that’s all.” “Burning people alive, that helps me,” Aaron says, confused.  “You say kill in your head, so we kill.” “Just because I think it, doesn’t mean I mean it. Stop killing people. You want to help me, leave me alone. Go away.”

Revolution - Season 2

On the train, Jason sees his mother. Neville introduces her as “Mrs. Doyle.”

Horn and guards are looking for Aaron in the school. Horn nearly falls over. Charlie, Rachel, Monroe and Miles go to find him. Aaron and Cynthia are hiding. Miles collapses, and Rachel sees that he’s feverish, so he shows her the infection. When Rachel asks why he didn’t show her before, he says. “Your dad could have helped. All you could have done is act like an idiot, which is what you’re doing right now. You have to go.” Charlie and Monroe wait in a hallway, but Monroe turns and leaves. Miles tells Rachel he never should have let her go, she was always the one. Then he’s unconscious. Cynthia and Aaron run right into Horn, and he pulls a gun on them, “Mr. Pittman. I’ve been looking for you.” He doesn’t look very good. Aaron asks them to let him go, and Horn says he’ll be happy to when Aaron gets rid of the tumor in his skull. Aaron says he can’t do that, but Horn says he’s lying. He turns gun on Cynthia. Charlie comes out from hiding in a locker, and is grabbed by a soldier,  but Monroe comes back and saves her. Horn is counting to three until he shoots Cynthia – she turns to Aaron and says she loves him, and then Horn shoots her. When Aaron looks up, the boy is there – Aaron looks at him and asks where he was. “You told me to go away.” Aaron says, “Kill him,” and Horm bursts into flames. “Kill them all.” All soldiers set on fire. The boy says, “I don’t understand. Why didn’t you just ask me to heal her?”  Aaron begs the boy to heal her, but he says he’s leaving, like Aaron wanted. Is this the end of Aaron’s deadly powers?
