Revolution returns tomorrow night, Wednesday, Jan. 8. Tomorrow’s episode, Three Amigos (and where is Chevy Chase when you need him?) will take Monroe, Miles and Rachel south of the Texas border into Mexico. Charlie and her grandfather search for Aaron, missing since he sicced the nanotech on Dr. Horn, in retaliation for killing Cynthia.

And Neville, now tentatively reunited with his wife Julia, who is also married to someone else, will continue his efforts to find out who the mysterious “Patriots” are.

There was one big announcement from NBC over the break: rocker Bret Michaels will guest star sometime during this second half of the season. According to NBC,  Michaels plays a post-apocalyptic version of himself and will be performing an acoustic version of Poison’s hit ballad “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” in an episode to air in 2014 (no more specific date given).

I’d like to see this show develop the Neville/Patriots story line farther than it seemed like was going to happen in the first half of the season. We saw a lot of what the Patriots were doing in Texas, but why are they doing it? What do they have to do with the US government? What was the mysterious shot of the White House that we saw early in the season?

Other big mysteries to solve – who and where is Monroe’s son? What did Miles have to do with hiding him away? The “why” is pretty understandable, but as Monroe seems to be attempting to redeem himself, will Miles decide he now “deserves” to meet his son? Several fans of the show have been calling for Charlie and Monroe to get together romantically – while I personally find this a little far fetched (and frankly, a little creepy), it wouldn’t surprise me if the writers throw them together. You can bet it wouldn’t be a smooth path.

Revolution - Season 2

What happened to Aaron – and what will happen to him? Never the most mentally stable of characters, Aaron has now gone through the deaths – over and over – of the woman he loved, the loss of home, friends, and stability. Rather than gain confidence through his ability to stay alive in the wasteland these past few years, Aaron seems to have crumbled, sinking in to alcoholism and self-pity. Can he recover from that and the guilt and anger he now feels, or will he lose his mind? I’ve loved Aaron’s snarkiness over the past season, but not the self-pitying look in his eyes.

I’ll talk to you after tomorrow night’s episode!
