Teen Wolf has done it yet again by fooling us into thinking things couldn’t get any crazier…and they do! Tonight’s episode (spoilers if you haven’t seen the episode) included tears, mystery, and whole lot of hypothermia. The shadowy figures from a few episodes ago finally took to Beacon Hills to torment the characters of Isaac, Ethan, Lydia, Aiden, and Derek. Their faces (if that’s what is underneath there) are covered in masks and exactly what they do to their victims besides make them incredibly cold is a bit of a mystery. The only potential clue is when Lydia says “they came out of the dark”, possibly eluding to the “darkness” that Deacon referred to after Allison, Scott, and Stiles’ sacrifice?
Allison and her father finally reach Isaac after he is the first to be attacked at the end of the last episode. When they find him he is extremely cold, disoriented, and can only be brought out of it by turning into his werewolf side triggering the healing process. The masked shadows left him alive though and with a mark behind his ear that look like a “5”. Is there a meaning to the number? Or is it a number at all? Allison’s father believes they left him alive because their intended target was in fact himself. He walks over to a chest and opens it revealing a mask just like the shadow men’s. Unfortunately the most detail that comes after that is that Allison’s father only has 24 hours from the time Isaac is attacked. Exactly what happens after 24 hours isn’t really clear other than by the end Mr. Argent stumbles into the apartment, bleeding, and either passes out or dies. What in the world is his connection to these people?
Since Derek has been seemingly MIA since his endeavors with Peter, the teens take the opportunity to use his loft as the location for a party organized by Danny that was supposed to happen before the power went out. In danger of it getting canceled (and hoping to revive his relationship with Danny), Ethan offered Derek’s loft not knowing what would unfold. Allison and Isaac show up and think about telling Scott about what happened with the shadowy figures but end up painting each other and dancing. Scott and Kira (despite an awkward moment between Allison and Scott) go off on their own to the roof. They talk about a secret she has shared with Scott while Lydia starts being haunted by the shadowy people. Stiles runs into a girl and spends time with her. She ends up helping him make a connection to a previous event and he runs off to test if he’s right.
Stiles had a seemingly small but intriguing story line running in the background of the episode. He finds a pair of keys that certainly don’t belong to him and ponders over how they ended up in his locker. The girl he ends up making out with at the blacklight party notices how the keys light up in one spot. She says whoever was holding them was around phosphorus and that’s what was making them glow (since that’s how the paint was glowing on their bodies). He realizes something and takes off to the school. The key fits perfectly to the chemistry lab that was left open where Barrow hid in the previous episode. He walks over to the board where Kira’s name was spelled out using atomic numbers and writes in his own handwriting right beside it. The handwriting matches perfectly, meaning he was the one who wrote message on the board telling Barrow to kill Kira as well as the one to open the chemistry lab for Barrow..all without any memory of it happening. He also had an earlier run in with Scott’s dad revealing that he knew why Mr. McCall didn’t like his own father, a secret that the Sheriff knew that Stiles was also in on.
The other big reveal of the episode (as if Stiles playing an unknown helping hand in Barrow’s plan and the shadowy figures attacking teens wasn’t enough) is Kira. We still aren’t sure what she is and honestly no one really knows at this point. However, the best clue they have to go on is that there’s a strange aura that shows up around her when she takes pictures of herself with the flash on. She tells Scott it only started a few months ago and she has yet to know what causes it. She believes it means she’s a demon of some sort but Scott believes it’s something protecting her, with the color similar to a fox. A new supernatural animal species? They have to sneak in to the police station after they take Kira’s phone following the investigation into Barrow’s attack on her. Thankfully she and Scott delete all the photos of her before anyone sees it but there’s a lot left to be uncovered.
Alright Teen Wolf peeps, what’d you think of the episode? Kira and Scott are on a dangerous path from the looks of next weeks preview. Did Kira draw the shadow people to Beacon Hills? I’m hoping Mr. Argent isn’t dead or that they at least can do something to save him, Allison has been through enough after losing her aunt and mom, now possibly her dad? And have you ever noticed how much Isaac gets beat up in every season? Sheesh, I know he’s a werewolf but the poor guy needs a break every once in a while. While all of these characters have a lot on the line, it’s Stiles that needs to be worried the most. How did he not know he wrote those numbers on the board and allow Barrow into the chemistry lab? He’s truly losing his mind and if this doesn’t scare him it’s only going to get worse from here. Hopefully his dad will step in to help him through whatever fire he’s about to go through but what does this all mean for Stiles? Is Scott’s dad right and someone is controlling the behavior of people in Beacon Hills? Is the same person that controlled Barrow now after Stiles? Be sure to let us know what you think by commenting or tweeting (@lmfsrush or @ThreeIfBySpace)! Until next week!
