Wizard World Comic Con blasted into New Orleans for three fun days of cosplay, celebrities, enjoyable events, and, of course, Matt Smith. Held at the spacious New Orleans Convention Center, everything felt quite roomy despite record attendance. The only negative thing I could say about the event was I wish it had lasted longer!
While we couldn’t attend every panel, we did make it to the Doctor Who fan panel which was a fun hour of speculating on my favorite show with panelists who really know their Time Lord trivia. We also laughed to the point of tears in Alan Tudyk’s panel, watched Michael Rooker literally take over his panel (he don’t need no steenkin’ moderator!), and rekindled our love of Gremlins in Zach Galligan’s panel. There were also intimate, surprise interviews with both Rooker and the legendary Stan Lee.
Finally, there was the person who generated the most buzz – Matt Smith. His panel was packed to the rafters and it was a blast listening to him in his first appearance since stepping out of the TARDIS. What’s fun about seeing panels like this is you can see just how much of the actor’s personality really went into his portrayal of the Doctor. He’s a funny and charming guy.
We have video from all the panels and interviews mentioned above and posts on each will be forthcoming, but until then I thought you’d enjoy a photo gallery from the event. This is a random mix of cosplayers and celebrities as we meandered the floor with huge grins on our faces.
