Guardians of the Galaxy – MTV Has An Exclusive First Look

Ever since the first full trailer from Guardians of the Galaxy was shown on Jimmy Kimmel Live I’ve been antsy for more.  It was made abundantly clear in that trailer that the film is going to have a healthy and wicked sense of humor.  It’s the humor that really turned me from simply “looking forward to this” to “I will be in the theater when this premieres.”

In this exclusive first look from MTV, there isn’t a ton of new stuff, but what’s there is good.  It opens with an extended segment from that Raiders-esque scene that shows Chris Pratt’s “Star Lord” attempting to steal an apparently precious item and being discovered by guards.  In the extended scene we’re shown that Star Lord/Peter Quill is more than just a loudmouth; he’s also got some serious action skills to back up his words.  In the ensuing array of clips I think there might be a couple of quick flashes of things not shown before, but I’m not really sure.

Having said that, the clip is definitely worth a watch just to see how Star Lord escapes the guards.

Plot Outline

Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” finds space adventurer Peter Quill the object of a bounty hunt after stealing an orb coveted by a treacherous villain, but when Quill discovers the power it holds, he must find a way to rally the quartet of ragtag rivals hot on his trail to save the universe.

Guardians of the Galaxy premieres Friday, August 1, 2014!

His earliest memories of enjoying scifi were sitting with his dad watching first-run episodes of the original Star Trek. Although a fan of nearly all forms of scripted television, Tom’s preferences skew heavily toward hard science fiction.
