New Falling Skies Teasers and Season 4 Speculations

Falling Skies TNT

June 22nd can’t come fast enough but TNT isn’t letting the date slip our minds. If you have watched TNT at all during the Final Four, you have seen Falling Skies promoted heavily over the network, as the show returns for its forth season, 12 episodes (2 longer than normal) and a new show runner.

Check out the new teasers at the end of the post.

Last season left us wondering what the true intentions of the Volm were and whether they could truly be trusted no matter how much they helped the 2nd mass take down the Espheni grid. The twists and turns for what they were doing to the children with the harnesses are far from over and it appears the enemy has figured out that going to ground isn’t the best way to win the war. Instead they are going with psychological warfare and fear, 2 things that combined can be deadlier than anything they have used yet.

Lexi is all grown up in the previews for season 4, clearly showing off her alien DNA and blonde hair. The question of whether Anne is really Anne or not is still in air but some of the previews seem to indicate we will get those answers. Lexi also appears to be messing with Ben’s mind and using her ability to communicate telepathically to influence Ben. It makes sense really, she is related to him in more ways than one (both on the human and alien DNA sides) and with Karen gone, Ben is the best candidate for being a face to the harnessed children helping the Espheni. Just how far will she corrupt him?

The effects of the harness are ongoing and mostly unknown. Karen was able to fully merge with the harness unlike some of the foot-solider children and Ben seems to be headed that route himself. He has more powerful than any of the other children and his ability to control his spikes is something the Espheni will need if they want to stop the skitter rebellion. Ben may end up the inside man the aliens need to win this war and feed them intel. Could that lead to losses at his hands?

Matt appears to be in some type of military camp, clearly run by children who have been harnessed and/or brain washed. Matt is young and still unsure of the world, so will he too be corrupted or does he know the truth and is simply doing what he can to survive? I personally think that without the influence of spikes or a harness (unlike Ben) that Matt will not fall to that brain washing but if he doesn’t, he must watch himself. If he is caught, or if they found out who he really was, that could put him in great danger.

2 aliens races on 1 planet is never a good thing and I have to wonder what the Volm really want with Earth. Is it really just a vindictive trip across space to seek revenge on the Espheni for destroying their home world? Or are both races after something on earth that the humans have yet to figure out.

The previews give us a little bit more to look at and ponder. The key theme is to fear the skies and the nightmare has only begun. The new season has all of our leads separated from each other. Separated makes everyone more vulnerable. Going this route will give the writers the ability to focus on individual character growth and explore each person’s story a little more. Hopefully they balance that with overall plot movement and action. I still feel there is a lot more we should know about the harnesses and the Eshpeni that we just haven’t dug into.
