During the long wait for the series 8 premiere of Doctor Who I find myself meandering the web looking for anything to satiate my appetite for all things blue and boxy. Two things I can always count on for a continuous stream of Gallifreyan goodies are BBC America’s Anglophenia blog and Whovian contributor Fraser McAlpine. He never fails to find something, actually several things, that keep the withdrawals at bay. Be sure to give him a visit and thank him for his … time!
This time he’s uncovered a trailer for a run of Classic Doctor Who that will air on the UK’s Horror Channel beginning this very day. The trailer is animated in a wonderfully minimalistic style with a perfectly appropriate voice-over by the 4th Doctor himself – Tom Baker. If you’re a fan of the classic episodes it’ll have you pining for a rewatch. If you’re only familiar with the new episodes this little trailer will make you want to explore the Doctor’s past, or is it future? Who knows? (Oops, I did it again.)
Horror Channel will begin by airing the very first episode, An Unearthly Child, starring Doctor number one William Hartnell. They will broadcast 30 stories in total featuring the first 7 Doctors. The only downside is if you’re not in the UK you’re not going to be able to watch them. Oh well, we’ll always have the trailer.
