Well what can I say about tonight’s episode? I can say it wasn’t one of my favorites, but I still liked it. I found it fun at times, especially when Sam and Dean tricked the angel into telling them what he knows, but mostly it made me anxious and left me thinking at the end.
Tonight was a hodgepodge of things. From Castiel’s army and his conviction to stop the angel on angle violence, at least that is what he tells Dean and Sam, to Abaddon using Crowley’s human emotions to force him to join her, and finally Dean’s change caused by the First Blade. The episode really felt mismatched to me.
Avid fans, liked myself, already knew that Crowley had a son and we even knew that the two of them couldn’t stand each other but tonight  we really got to see them two of the interact. Abaddon has brought Gavin to the 21st Century to use as leverage to get Crowley to agree to help her take out the Winchesters. With his lingering human feelings he couldn’t stand to watch her torture his boy and agrees, but he is a slippery little devil and even following her plan he is able to give the boys a hit that they were walking into a trap. At the end the Winchesters want to send Gavin back to his time, but Crowley takes him and sets him free into the current world. I am interested to see how the writers will handle that. Gavin is supposed to be dead so, as Sam pointed out, the timeline of things in the future will change.
Cas is now being called Commander by his followers. He has a home base with maps and electronics and an office. He finds out that he has a traitor in his mists and tries to convince Gadreel that Metatron is lying to him and act report to him what Metatron is up too. By the end of the show we are unsure what Gadreel will do.
Finally lets talk about what this First Blade is doing to Dean. It is making him callous and distant and is filling him with blood lust. I wont tell you how his showdown with Abaddon turns out, as you need to watch it yourself, but what I can tell you is that he was damn scary with the power the blade give him. It is a bit reminiscence of when Sammy was drinking demon blood and getting a high from the power, but I have to say it is a 100 times worse….just the look in Dean’s eyes.
I am looking forward to seeing how this all plays out, but I think next season is when we are going to get more as we only have a couple of episodes left.
