I don’t know what it is about angels – I’m not one of those who thinks there’s an angel on my shoulder, I don’t wear angel pins, but give me an archangel story and I’m hooked. Jim Butcher’s Dresden series has an archangel theme; John Connolly’s Charlie Parker may or may not be a fallen angel. Combine angels with a post-apocalytic story, and you’ve got me. Completely hooked. So I’m excited to tell you about Syfy’s new summer show, Dominion, the story of a fight between groups of angels for the fate of humans.
(From Syfy) Beginning Thursday, June 19 (9 pm eastern), heaven will raise hell on Earth. In Dominion, the ultimate celestial battle between good and evil unfolds… with humanity caught in the crossfire.
Based on characters from the film Legion (2010), Dominion is an epic supernatural drama set in the year 25 A.E. (After Extinction). In this transformed post-apocalyptic future, an army of lower angels, assembld by the archangel Gabriel, has waged a war of possession against mankind. The archangel Michael, turning against his own kind, has chosen to side with humanity against Gabriel.
Rising out of the ashes of the 25 year long battle are newly fortified cities which protect the human survivors. In Vega (formerly Las Vegas), the largest of these cities, two houses vie for control over the people and the stage is set for political upheaval and a dangerous power shift. Meanwhile, a rebellious young soldier beings a perilous journey as the war escalates between the human race and the angels that are hell-bent on destroying humanity.
Dominion stars Christopher Egan (Kings), Tom Wisdom (300), Roxanne McKee (Game of Thrones), Alan Dale (Lost), Anthony Stewart Head (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Luke Allen-Gale (The Borgias), Shivani Ghai (EastEnders), Rosalind Halstead (Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason), and Carl Beukes (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom).
