With a new iteration of the Doctor just about to hit our screens, now comes news that Jenna Coleman may be leaving the TARDIS for good come Christmas. According to the Mirror, the actress will be departing during this year’s Christmas Special after 18 months playing Clara Oswald.
To paraphrase David Tennant’s Tenth, “I don’t want her to go.”
Doctor Who has always been about change, but this year they’re really putting fans through the wringer. The Doctor’s got a new face along with a new and different personality, and now we’re facing the loss of Clara on top of that. “Wibbly-wobbly” would be an appropriate way to describe how I’m feeling about all this. But hey, we’ve been through this routine so many times that while it’s a bit of a shock at first, we find that change is almost always a good thing.
Besides, Samuel Anderson will be on board as Danny Pink to help hold things together during this season of upheaval. Maybe what this new, mildly acerbic Doctor needs is a double shot of Clara and Danny to iron out his kinks before our beloved Ms. Oswald leaves the adventurous life behind in favor of an ordinary linear timeline.
The BBC has made no comment on this rumor so it could be nothing more than a puddle of Ood drool for all we know. Stay tuned for more news about this rumor and just about anything having to do with Doctor Who.
BUT … if they paint the TARDIS pink, I’ll probably lose my mind.
