Jamie is in a tough situation this week – damned if you do and damned if you don’t. Clan Mackenzie comes together to swear loyalty to Colum. Mrs.Fitz had told Claire that there hadn’t been a Gathering in many years, since Colum had been made laird. As the clan swears fealty to Colum, Jamie has to decide whether he will join them.
Claire takes advantage of the opportunity to make a break for the stones, with the resolve she gained from learning, through the bard’s music, that in song at least, travelers were able to return to their own time. And Dougal takes Claire and Jamie along with him on an errand for the clan, disguising a hidden motivation.
