Tokyo Ghoul

Hot off its successful anime debut this summer, Tokyo Ghoul was renewed for a second season. The new season is set to premiere Jan 2015. Tokyo Ghoul joins another new summer anime, Aldnoah.Zero, to be renewed and return in Jan. Both series had bloody endings that left most people on the edge of their seat wanting to know what happens next. The creator of the Tokyo Ghoul manga had recently announced the series was done, leaving the story hanging in a way that upset many fans. However, news broke that the manga would be returning under the title Tokyo Ghoul:re (An origin story).

UPDATE: Two new promo videos for the anime and manga were release. Check them out here.

The dark fantasy/horror series is set in the not too distant future Tokyo. Haunted by “Ghouls” who devour humans, people are in fear for their lives. Ghouls identities are masked in mystery. A student name Kaneki encounters a ghoul named Rize and doesn’t realize until its too late that his fate will change forever.

Tokyo Ghoul was launched in Weekly Young Jump in 2011, and Shueisha is set to ship the 14th compiled volume on Oct 17th. Viz is set to publish the manga in North America starting in June 2015, along with streaming of the series by FUNimation.
