If you haven’t read about it in 42 different places by now, be advised that everyone’s favorite gender-swapping, evil, amorous, and playful Gallifreyan, Missy, will be back for season 9 of Doctor Who. Currently, it has been announced that Michelle Gomez will be reprising the role of Missy for the two-part season 9 premiere, The Magician’s Apprentice and The Witch’s Familiar.
I’ve always assumed the title of the first part referred to the Doctor (magician) and Clara (apprentice), which may well be the case. If so, the title of part 2, The Witch’s Familiar, would seem to hint at Missy being the witch, but who, or what, will be her familiar? Is it possible that somehow Seb might make a return as the “familiar” in the title? I could use a good “squee” right about now.
And more good news for fans of strong female characters – Jemma Redgrave will reprise her role as the smart-as-her-dad Kate Stewart. Kate takes no crap from anyone and Redgrave is perfect in the role. I wish they’d make her a regular, or at least a more regular guest star.
