“Bless me, Father, for I have sinned.”
These are the opening words in the first teaser trailer for Marvel’s Daredevil. From the looks of the trailer, Matt Murdock will be saying those words a lot. I’m okay with that.
Marvel’s Daredevil looks like a dark, gritty crime drama, which is what it was described to be. And in that regard, the trailer doesn’t disappoint. In fact, it excites, which is kind of the point. Making the series fall more along the lines of an action-oriented crime drama rather than a straight-up superhero story should broaden the appeal of the show.
In some ways, it reminds me a bit of Arrow, and I mean that in the most complimentary of ways. I guess it’s the semi-acrobatic nocturnal activities that give me that feeling, or the fact that it looks like badass vigilante fun. Unlike Arrow, however, Marvel’s Daredevil won’t be constrained by overly-prudish network censors. So that’s another advantage in addition to getting all 13 episodes of season one at once.
Meet Matt Murdock. Blinded as a boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, Matt fights injustice by day as a respected lawyer and by night as the masked vigilante known as Daredevil in Hell’s Kitchen, New York. He’ll do anything to make his city a better place, but at what price? All episodes available April 10, only on Netflix.
