Depending on how you’re counting, Disney has just dropped either the first or second Tomorrowland trailer. The first trailer, which you can find here, while technically a teaser, clocked in at only 22 seconds shorter than this one. So you’ll find this one listed as either the first full trailer or, as Disney themselves have labeled it on YouTube, “Trailer #2”. Either way, just watch the damned thing already!
As I stated in my first post, there is definitely a Wizard of Oz feel to the premise and the city in the film looks a lot like the Emerald City, only, you know, not green. There are also a lot of nice steampunk-ish and retro-futuristic elements that make it look a bit like it could be a big budget Jules Verne adaptation. Overall, it looks fun and it’ll be good to hear Hugh Laurie using something akin to his natural English accent for a change.
From Disney comes two-time Oscar® winner Brad Bird’s “Tomorrowland,” a riveting mystery adventure starring Academy Award® winner George Clooney. Bound by a shared destiny, former boy-genius Frank (Clooney), jaded by disillusionment, and Casey (Britt Robertson), a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity, embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space known only as “Tomorrowland.” What they must do there changes the world—and them—forever.
Featuring a screenplay by “Lost” writer and co-creator Damon Lindelof and Brad Bird, from a story by Lindelof & Bird & Jeff Jensen, “Tomorrowland” promises to take audiences on a thrill ride of nonstop adventures through new dimensions that have only been dreamed of.
The film also stars Hugh Laurie as brilliant scientist David Nix, Raffey Cassidy, Tim McGraw, Judy Greer, Kathryn Hahn, Keegan-Michael Key and Thomas Robinson.
Tomorrowland premieres May 22, 2015
