Here is our first glimpse of the Legends Of Tomorrow assembled, and it looks like Arrow‘s Caity Lotz will indeed be playing Sara Lance/White Canary! The spin-off show will also have Arthur Darvill (Rip Hunter), Ciara Renee (Hawkgirl), Victor Garber (Martin Stein), Brandon Routh (Ray Palmer/The Atom), Wentworth Miller (Leonard Snart/Captain Cold), and Dominic Purcell (Mick Rory/Heat Wave).
When heroes alone are not enough… the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat — one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known? DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW stars Victor Garber (“The Flash,” “Alias”); Brandon Routh (“Arrow,” “Superman Returns”); Arthur Darvill (“Doctor Who”); Caity Lotz (“Arrow”); Ciarra Renee (“Pippin”); Franz Drameh (“Edge of Tomorrow”); with Dominic Purcell (“The Flash,” “Prison Break”); and Wentworth Miller (“The Flash,” “Prison Break”). Based on the characters from DC Comics, DC’S LEGENDS OF TOMORROW is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Greg Berlanti (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” upcoming “Pan”), Marc Guggenheim (“Arrow,” “Eli Stone,” “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters”), Andrew Kreisberg (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Eli Stone,” “Warehouse 13”) and Sarah Schechter (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” upcoming “Pan”).
I’m super excited by this sneak peek at the new spin-off series! In it, we see Arrow and The Flash assembling a new team of heroes, and those heroes expressing disbelief at being called heroes. But no worries, friends, because newcomer Rip Hunter is here to explain to them, “In the future, none of you are heroes. You’re legends!”
Based on this promo video, it’s confirmed that actress Caity Lotz is reprising her role as Sara Lance and that she will be resurrected using the Lazarus Pit. We’ll learn more (soon, I hope) about Hawkgirl and how she gets involved. I’m also curious to know how they’ll make Firestorm work if only half of his identity is going to star as a regular on the show. Plus, it’ll definitely be amusing to have Captain Cold and Heatwave (two villains) working with heroes who once stood against them.
As if we didn’t know it already, this video proves that Ray Palmer survives that explosion and figures out how to shrink himself at will. Having them all involved in time travel, since Rip Hunter is part of some time agency, is icing on the cake. It seems the show is striving for a healthy balance between action, humor, and sci-fi goodness! And how about that new villain, Savage? “An immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?” Yes, please!
So let’s go down the roster one more time. We’ve got:
– Hawkgirl (a girl with wings and a past lives complex)
– The White Canary (the deceased assassin)
-Captain Cold and Heatwave (a pair of criminals)
-The ATOM (a billionaire with more tech than he knows what to do with)
-Firestorm (one half is a hero and his other half is combustible)
-Rip Hunter (from East London and the future)
The future looks awesome! Legends of Tomorrow comes to the CW in 2016.
