After 18 years of pissing off fans with teased remakes and sequels across more than 3 different playstation platforms, it appears that Square Enix is finally making that remake we have all wanted. “Holy Shit” was the word across Twitter when after years of teasing, they finally announced its remake. At this years E3 event, a nearly 2 minute long trailer revealed that a remake of final fantasy VII, in HD, is being made. Some knew right away what it was when the trailer started and others didn’t until we saw Cloud and Barret. Personally the moment the green light appeared with the girl on the slide (the lifestream) I knew.
We have all wanted this remake for so long because the battle system, story and open world map was revolutionary in its time 18 years ago. Now with the improved graphics of gaming systems and PCs everyone is excited to see where they can take the series on a new platform. The trailer teases “Play It First on PS4”. Many argue that the wording suggests the title will become available on Xbox One and PC later on. I haven’t bothered to by a new gaming system in almost 4 years, but this is exactly the reason I needed to pickup a PS4 which I will be doing.
Square released an official press release earlier today stating in part:
LOS ANGELES (June 15, 2015) – At Sony Computer Entertainment of America LLC’s (SCEA) E3 press conference today, SQUARE ENIX® announced that it has begun production on the full remake of FINAL FANTASY® VII for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system.
Leading the development will be key members from the original project, including producer Yoshinori Kitase, director Tetsuya Nomura and scenario writer Kazushige Nojima.
Tell us your thoughts on the trailer and if you are happy or upset with the remake.
