Episode nine of Seraph of the End starts with a vampire invasion that is spreading to various human bases throughout this desolated world. Because of this sudden vampire attack, Yu and the rest of his squad have to fight on the front lines for the first time. In addition, this is the first time it has felt like a real war to them. They are fighting with the rest of the military. Seraph of the End: Vampire Attack was an extremely tense episode that only prepares us for the upcoming episodes. Yu and Mikaela are now on the same battlefield. They could meet at any moment.
Episode nine gives us more information about Mikaela. We have learned that he has not yet turned into a complete vampire. In order to become a full vampire, one must drink human blood and he has not yet given in to this thirst. Instead, he drinks the blood of the vampire that mastered him. How will this affect him in the future? How has the vampire half of Mikaela changed him? We know that he risks becoming a demon if he refuses to drink human blood. His choices are either demon or vampire. Is there any part of him that may be demon now? We also know that he has agreed to go onto the battlefield in order to try to find Yu. He has not yet given up on the family he lost when he has human. Unfortunately, Ferrid has been following Mikaela. He constantly teases him. I have a feeling that he will be one of the main people to cause problems when Mikaela and Yu finally meet again. Yu does not even know that Mikaela is alive.
Yu learns more about what it really takes for humans to be able to kill vampires. His squad receive a little pep talk about the use of steroids that help them even the playing field. By taking a single pill, a person can become 1.5 times stronger than they were before. Two pills make them 1.8 times stronger. Although taking more than that can make a person even stronger, their organs will explode after taking three pills. Even just taking two pills can severely damage the human body and it is only suggested during dire circumstances. These steroids can help a human take full advantage of the power that their personal demon has lent them. In addition, we were able to see Guren’s squad in this episode. These guys seem to be the real professionals. I hope to see them in later episodes.
Seraph of the End: Vampire Attack depicts fight scenes with speed lines and still frames. Despite the fact that the action scenes of this episode were not as flashy as previous episodes, I did enjoy how these same scenes put a focus on how well the group responds to each other now. They are learning how to react to certain situations together and as a team. They protect each other. There has not been a lot of flashy animation going on in this episode. However, the show is setting us up for some dramatic scenes. I am hoping that they are saving the best for the last.
