Peter Capaldi’s first run in the TARDIS initially hit a lot of viewers with mixed feelings, but it didn’t take long for him to win over even the most doubting of Thomases. The season 8 finale of Doctor Who was a hit with viewers and the ratings reflected that. Now that the 12th Doctor has materialized his way into our hearts, BBC Worldwide North America is again partnering with Fathom Events to bring Doctor Who back to the big screen.
For two nights only, September 15 and 16, the two-part season 8 finale, which is comprised of episodes Dark Water and Death in Heaven, will be shown in select theaters nationwide. For those of you that like a little extra dimension in your TARDIS, the double feature will be shown in RealD 3D with some fancy Dolby sound stuff going on as well.
This news alone is enough to have me grabbing for tickets now, and they don’t even go on sale until July 31, but there’s more! In addition to watching the spectacular season 8 finale, moviegoers will also be treated to the never-before-seen season 9 prequel The Doctor’s Meditation. Top that off with an exclusive interview of Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman by host Wil Wheaton and you’ve got a night of nerdy Whovian bliss. So grab a giant tub of popcorn and a big bag of Jelly Babies, this is going to be one wild ride.
