There have been a lot of post apocalyptic movies and stories to come out in the past 5 years. Much like vampires and werewolfs, it has been the time of the dystopian future world for film. Some have worn thin on us and others have continued to provide great entertainment. The Maze Runner is just getting started as a series but so far, its been an intriguing story that has kept me interested.
After escaping the maze in the first film, the ending left us with a rather obvious and expected twist that the doctor wasn’t dead and that the children were still being used in some way. This setup had a lot of same feelings and plot points as the Resident Evil films. Perhaps its the younger cast that makes it appeal to me more than some other films, but the fresh faces that are not the hollywood a-listers is a refreshing change. Don’t get me wrong Dylan O’Brien is very popular from Teen Wolf and other projects, and the film is full of a-list actors from Giancarlo Esposito, Aidan Gillen, to Barry Pepper. The focus however is on Dylan and his fellow escapees.
This film comes out on Sept 18th, 2015 (one day after my birthday) and I’m excited to see where the Scorch Trials go.
