The Flash Season 2 Promo – Other Worlds and Jay Garrick

We finally get to see an extended promo for the new season of The Flash, and it’s awesome! Jay Garrick, Atom Smasher, Zoom, Patty Spivot, they’re all in this sneak peek at Season Two! Plus, the fans are teased with footage of returning characters like Iris, Golden Glider, and of course the rest of Team Flash (Cisco, Caitlin, Joe). I know I’ve asked this before but, is it October yet? I can’t wait!

Let’s do a breakdown of the trailer, starting with our first look at Jay Garrick. It’s brief and the image of his full suit is a bit blurry, but we can glean a few things from it. For instance, his iconic helmet doesn’t look as shiny as the one shown in an earlier promo photo (to see it, click here). Could it have something to do with time travel? Maybe it’s not his true helmet? Or maybe the props department just decided to alter it for whatever reason. In this article from Comicbook.com, it’s thought that:

Jay’s slightly more tarnished look lends itself to the World War I comparisons that are often drawn, whereas the very shiny one seen in the ads and the season finale feels more like it ties to Mercury, the Roman god on whom so much of Jay’s look is based.

That same article goes into a lot of detail about all the aspects of Jay’s outfit, from his headgear to his toes. There may have been some Smallville inspiration in his appearance as well.

But let’s move on to another part of the trailer: Other Worlds. At the end of Season One, a wormhole opens up, and in this promo, Jay shows up to warn Barry and his team that big bad meta-humans from Earth 2 will break through and put their world in danger. Atom Smasher is only the first, and more will follow. This trailer also reveals something major: Zoom is sending these baddies to Earth 1 to kill The Flash.

We’re also treated to a fun scene between Cisco and Golden Glider, a relationship I look forward to seeing more of (regardless of romance), and Patty Spivot shows up for the first time too. Iris is also into it briefly expressing her belief in Barry and The Flash. And apparently there will be a “Flash Signal” for The Flash like there’s a “Bat Signal” for Batman! And more than just the introduction of new characters, this promo is full of thrilling action and fight teasers.

As an added bonus, here’s a fun image that brings a comic book scene (The Flash of Two Worlds) to life. Barry and Jay are shown rushing toward Patty Spivot:
