It was supposed to happen during last year’s Christmas Special, but a last-minute change of heart kept Jenna Coleman in the TARDIS for a little while longer. Sadly, she’s now taken her final ride through time and space and is officially leaving the show, as reported by the BBC. At least that’s the story right now. A part of me wants to believe there will be another 11th hour change of heart, but since the actress has revealed her final scenes have been shot I suppose it’s a done deal. Change is a big part of Doctor Who and while losing a familiar face is always tough, new faces are a big part of what keeps the show fresh after more than a half century.
What hasn’t been revealed is when and how she’ll leave the show. For that, we’ll have to tune in and watch, but if you want to watch Coleman announcing her departure, see it in the video below. In it, she reveals to BBC Radio 1 presenter Nick Grimshaw that she’s already filmed her final scene and said her tearful goodbyes. I will miss Clara.
