Hammer recently released four Hammer films on Blu-Ray. While they looked and sounded amazing and fans clearly rejoiced at the idea of Hammer films being released on another platform, there was one problem – extra features were not included in the releases. Since the campaign to get Hammer to release their titles on Blu-Ray was so successful, the people at Diabolique have decided to do something more for fans of Hammer horror. Unfortunately, they need your help in order to do it.

They have recently started a Kickstarter campaign. This campaign is needed in order to raise money so that a documentary on the films Hammer released with Warner Bros can be made. This documentary will be titled “Hammer Horror: The Warner Bros Years”. Fans that have been yearning to learn more about what happened behind the scenes of the Hammer and Warner Bros relationship can now do so!

Hammer is the home of some of the best horror films. Many of you will recognize Christopher Lee’s role in Hammer films like “Dracula Has Risen From the Grave” and “Taste the Blood of Dracula”. Peter Cushing played a large role in Hammer films as well. These include “Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed”. The documentary will be 90 minutes long and will include interviews with some of the people involved in the making of these popular Hammer films. Other interviews with authors and film historians will be included as well. Actors and actresses that will be a part of the documentary include Madeline Smith, John Carson, and Veronica Carlson.

“Hammer Horror: The Warner Bros Years” will also include archive documents that have not been released until now, original shooting locations, film footage, and extremely rare production stills. Additional features that will be included in the Blu-Ray release include extended interviews. In addition, there will be a short film titled “Hammer Chords: Hammer Horror’s Shocking Scores”. This film will explore the music that is behind all of the greatest Hammer films. This is definitely a Blu-Ray set that fans need!

This amazing documentary cannot be released without your help. $22,000 need to be raised in order to make this dream documentary a reality. Over half has already been raised and they are almost there! For those who would like to donate to this campaign, there are plenty of rewards available. Rewards include your name in the film’s credits, digital streaming of the film, the exclusive Blu-Ray set, and four limited-edition Hammer posters that have been designed by Mark Spears. The campaign ends on November 18. You can find more information about this campaign here.

Courtney Sanders

Courtney is completely obsessed with horror. She loves listening to old school suspense radio shows, watching horror movies, reading classic horror literature, and watching whatever TV show or horror anime that catches her attention. She grew up watching horror movies like Evil Dead, Army of Darkness, and Black Sabbath with her grandfather and mother. When he passed away, she dedicated her life to the very genre they loved. Her favorite films include Army of Darkness, The Devil’s Rejects, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2.
Oh yeah, and her obsession with Bruce Campbell is bigger than her obsession with horror.
