AMC’S “FEAR THE WALKING DEAD” SEASON TWO BEGINS PRODUCTION IN BAJA, MEXICO

#1 New Series in Cable History Returns Next Spring on AMC

NEW YORK, NY – December 3, 2015 – AMC announced today the start of production on “Fear the Walking Dead” season two in the Baja peninsula in Mexico at Baja Studios, site of the filming for Titanic, Master and Commander and other feature films. The companion series to “The Walking Dead,” the #1 show on television among adults 18-49, “Fear the Walking Dead” delivered the highest-rated first season of any series in cable history among total viewers and all key demos in live+3 ratings. Executive produced by showrunner Dave Erickson, Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero and David Alpert, “Fear the Walking Dead” returns for a second season of 15 episodes next spring.

“We are thrilled to be starting production and even more thrilled to be shooting in Mexico. Baja Studios has been home to some of the greatest ocean-set films in recent years and provides all the creative resources we need to begin this new chapter in the ‘Fear’ saga. We couldn’t be happier,” said Erickson.

Season one left off with Madison (Kim Dickens), Travis (Cliff Curtis) and their extended family taking temporary shelter in Strand’s (Colman Domingo) gated estate overlooking the Pacific Ocean. As civil unrest continues to grow and the dead take over Los Angeles, Strand prepares to escape to “Abigail,” his large yacht moored offshore.

“Fear the Walking Dead” takes us back to the beginning of the zombie apocalypse – a time when the world was changing rapidly for reasons unknown, before anyone understood exactly what was happening, when life as everyone knew it was upended and altered in ways no one could have ever imagined. “Fear the Walking Dead” stars Kim Dickens as Madison, Cliff Curtis as Travis, Frank Dillane  as Nick, Alycia Debnam-Carey as Alicia, Ruben Blades as Daniel, Mercedes Mason as Ofelia, Lorenzo James Henrie as Chris and Colman Domingo as Strand.

We will all be waiting and anticipating this next season of Fear The Walking Dead. Season 1 of the AMC zombie thriller ended on a tragic note as Travis (Cliff Curtis) is forced to kill his former wife Liza in order to save her from turning into a zombie. The finale also revealed that the lead cast will move towards the sea with the help of Strand (Colman Domingo), a mysterious wealthy man. By the end of season 1, fans were expecting Strand to emerge as a major character and AMC’s recent announcement has proved them right as Colman Domingo has been promoted to series regular. What I want to know is, will we see Zombie Pirates? Erickson, had earlier told Hollywood Reporter that FTWD season 2 will take place on both land and sea. He had also teased that many people will try to escape the infection by boarding boats. “We end on one boat and the ocean beyond, but what we’ll come to realize and this will be part of what the military is doing,” he told the website.

“You’ll see that land is no longer safe. At least not in Southern California. Some people have not been quarantined or driven north or south. But there’s thousands of boats through L.A. County. So a lot of people will stock up the boats and try to get to the water and avoid land as much as humanly possible. You’ll see a lot of people trying to survive. If you look at Strand’s yacht, it’s a pretty handsome vessel. It’s something that you can survive on for a good period of time, and that’s something others might covet. So when you get to the question of what’s worse, walker or human, we’ll continue that theme. There will be quite a bit of action on the seas — and we’ll split it between land and water. But it’s going to be an interesting dynamic.” Read story here.

Flight 462 is the intense little webisode series that promises one or more character will be regulars on Fear The Walking Dead in season 2. We don’t know who yet, but my bets are on the Asian woman and the teenager. Some characters of the special web series Flight 462 will unite with the FTWD leads. But the changing scenario in the flight is making sense and giving an idea of how the characters will meet. The Phoenix-bound flight was forced to return to Los Angeles as the pilot could not find a visible landing strip. In the meantime, Marcus, the sick passenger on board falls unconscious and the flight crew starts doing CPR on him. The girl, who is suspicious of Marcus’ illness, asks everyone to lock him inside the bathroom but a US air marshal orders her back to her seat. So it’s only a matter of time before we find out. The webisodes are being shown with every new Walking Dead episode and we will not see it again until The Walking Dead returns on February 14th 2016. Season 2 of Fear The Walking Dead returns in July on AMC. Read story here.
