Colony: Ep. 3 Preview, 98 Seconds and a WWYD Poll

This week on Colony: Katie’s first mission leads her to question her commitment to the Cause. Will’s hunt for resistance leader Geronimo draws him into the Resistance’s crosshairs.

One of the really interesting aspects to this story is the fact that it’s not about fighting the aliens, but about fighting the greed and power-mongering of other humans caused by the arrival of the aliens (at least we’re assuming they’re alien!). This is what the producers, Carlton Cuse and Ryan Condal, planned – inspired by France during the Nazi occupation, they were fascinated by the responses of everyday people to the huge changes that came about. Where do you think you would fall? Would you decide it’s safer and easier to go along, to get the advantages available by cooperating with the new government? Would you fight against the occupation, no matter the cost? Or would you try to find a way to live your life, take care of your family, without making a commitment to either end of the spectrum? Take my poll (below the video) and let me know.

I had a short, provocative discussion on Facebook today with someone who wasn’t happy with the show. She felt that the Bowmans abandoned Carlos’ family last episode, by taking them to get fake IDs and attempt to relocate after Carlos was sent to the Factory. She said that she thought the Bowmans should have done more, including hiding them in the Yonk, like people hid Jews during WWII, and that by passing them along to others to take care of, had basically “thrown them under the bus.” Leave a comment below and tell me what you think!
