Fans of AMC’s hit new show Into The Badlands are itching for some news on season 2. It was possibly leaked back in December when a comment appeared on lead Daniel Wu’s Facebook page that the show had been renewed. That comment was later removed and AMC officials said nothing had been decided yet. That was our first indication that on the inside, AMC had already made up its mind.
Via twitter today The Hollywood Report’s Lesley Goldberg tweeted out from the TCAs that AMC has the intention of renewing the series. That prompted this reply from one of the series creators Al Gough.
AMC will air 14 originals (scripted & unscripted) in ’16. 3 of its 4 rookies from ’15 were renewed. The 4th, Into the Badlands, will be, too

Official word from AMC is still outstanding but all indications at this point are looking good for a second season of the martial arts drama. It’s a win-win for AMC with strong shows like The Walking Dead and its spin off Fear The Walking Dead, this ads a third post-apocalyptic show to their 2016 line up that will help keep them on top. If you haven’t checked out the series yet, we highly recommend you do. Checkout this clip from episode 5 that was provided by AMC. Into The Badlands averaged over 5 million viewers each week, even after a sharp decline without The Walking Dead as a lead in.
